either your memory is off or you dont know as much about baseball as you think. Do you realize that doc made one all star game after 86?? Do you realize that he wasnt even the best pitcher on the mets after 88? (Cone and viola for a year). I love Doc i really do….but to compare a meteor that rose and fizzled before he turned 25 to a guy who has put up better numbers than any other player at his position in a mets unform for years in insane!!! Also….you only call him unclutch because you can only remember the times he wasnt. I assure you he was for many years before that. and has been many times since.

My proof the fans are growing tired comes from reading their comments first hand…there is also talk of benching Sandoval, so there are issues at third base for the Giants. And I did not say he was worthless I simply stated he is better suited to be on an AL team since he is better suited to be a DH considering he can’t stay in shape, nor did I proclaim there to be a “massive” hole at third – I stated there would be a glaring hole if they traded Sandoval. Just some advice…If you are going to attack writers for their opinions, and want people to take you serious, you should consider using spell check before commenting.

I knew youd bring up 2008. Like i said he had one tough year. Get over it!!! You aren’t a Mets fan as much as a Mets hater who follows the mets!! You hate him because he doesn’t come through EVERY SINGLE TIME. You complain about 2006 forgetting that he hit .360 in september!!!!! Also he had 6 RBI in the playoffs!! not monstrous but not “disappearing”

You forget him hitting .370 in august and Septemeber of 2007 with over 40 RBI while the entire team was collapsing!!! What about .340 in spetember of your horrible 2008 once again while the team collapsed!

Mets fans like you have short memories!

Think you’re wrong about Wright spending significant time on the DL over the years.

Starting with his first full season in the MLs:

2005: 160 games
2006: 154 games
2007: 160 games
2008: 160 games
2009: 144 games (15 day DL at the hands of a Cain beaning to the head late in season)
2010: 157 games
2011: 102 games (approx. 7 weeks on the DL with a broken back)
2012: 142 games so far

Conclusion: 1 season in his ML career so far where he spent any significant time on the DL.
How exactly does that equate to ‘significant time on the DL over the years’?

Dude hit 243 with RISP in 2008, i had no beef with him up until late 2007 when he hit into a bunch of DP and rally killing outs, but i gave him a pass, as well as in the 2006 playoffs when he disappear, but the year it matter the most, the guy just wasn’t the same player he was in 2006 and part of 2007… Greatest my ass.. The team was built to take the pressure of him with beltran and delgado, once he became the guy look at our team now. come on dude, stop making a fool of yourself!

The article isincredible. first you proclaim Sandoval basiccally worthless because he is always hurt, which is not true, then you proclaim that Giants will have a massive hole at third when they trade this guy who you claim is alwaysa hurt. How can they have a massive hole by trading a guy you proclaim to be always hurt???? Then you make unsabastantiated statements that the Giant fans and FO are tired of him, Where is your prooff? And if the Giants need to trade the panda because he’s always hurt why would they want David Wright who has spent significant time on the DL over the years as well, is older than the the panda and supposedly gets freaked out playing in big parks!!!! If he can’t handle cty field how could he handle that even bigger rightcenter in SF?

2008 is when his struggles started but didnt always continue. Hmmm weird huh. noone seems to remember the guy who was guranteed to get a clutch hit. Because Mets fans loooove to hate our greatest player simply because he isn’t Miguel Cabrera!!!

Did you just become a Met fan yesterday? The Mets have been trading their best homegrown players since infancy, Nolan Ryan, Tom Seaver, Darryl and Doc, Jose Reyes ring any bells? Why do you think a scrub like Ed Kranepool holds almost every Mets hitting record because he was great? Answer = No, it’s because we’ve always traded our best homegrown players.

Ummm, dwight gooden had one good season???? The man was the Ace of the staff, was ROY from the get go, Cy Young in the second season, ohh, and during a 7 year stretch, where he started 200 games the guy went 117-46 (721 winning %) 54 CG 20 SHO 1500 IP and 1400 K avg 8.2 K/P while only walking 2 per 9 IP, ohhh, not to mention, he was top 7 Cy young pitcher in 5 of those season (including one he was hurt). You must be outside your mind when talking about what at one point was the BEST PITCHER in the NL. David at no point in his career was consider the best player on the mets!!! Stop it ok? I know you like the guy, but to put him as the best POSition player on the mets is insane.. clutch??/ come on bro,.,, Stop it!!!!!!!!!!!!

um Daryl strawberry BEST season was worse than the season david is having this year. You cant even come close to comparing the two. Daryl hit a bunch of HR’s some of them clutch. Rarely hit close to .280 and was a constant clubhouse distraction. i loved him too but its not even close! Doc had ONE dominant season ONE. Then he had a couple of great seasons and followed by a mediocre career with horrible distractions and wasted talent. Its not even close. No hitter for the mets has come close to his career numbers period! Its pure hatred! And its weird!

Mets fans love to dislike David Wright. They all forget how insanely clutch he was and how dominant he was before the abomination of citi field destroyed him. They forget how outside of a month long stretch he was one of the top 5 hitters in baseball this year. Daryl NEVER had stretches of dominance like David has had. Doc had one.

stats wise it says so, yeah… But you cannot tell me he was a better player than strawberry ever was, or dwight gooden and what he accomplished, it’s not hatred, it’s just reality. i think the fact that we didn’t win anything with him or jose reyes puts both of them a little behind those 2 imho,.. it’s not hatred, i think winning and accomplishments as well gives a player more recognition to a franchise than even stats sometimes..
That is my opinion, you have yours of course..
