Sorry but i would ask Toronto for. Travis D’Arnaud, Anthony Gose, Noah Syndergaard, for Niese. If Toronto who needs and want s a controllable starting pitcher balks at that proposal walk away. If they accept that gives you a starting Catcher,a starting Centerfielder and a Future Ace who will be ready for the 2nd wave of pitching coming up, with Fulmer. Too me to starting position players and a future Ace is worth it considering the Mets have depth in the rotation.

Would you trade Niese if the Reds offered Mike Leake, Devin Mesoraco, Billy Hamilton, and Logan Ondrusek ? Cincinnati gave up a comparable package for Mat Latos a year ago.

Trading Jonathon Niese would be foolish after the polish and maturity he has shown this season not to mention the improved stamina. Niese is part of the plan that will help this team become a winner for the next 5 years or so.It may not be fast enough for you malcontents on this site who think they know anything about baseball but despite the changes in the game, pitching is the way to get to the promised land. Until this year, I was not sure that Niese was going to reach his potential as a ML pitcher but he has made great strides in 2012. Did his nose job help with his respiratory system giving him more stamina? Probably so!

In any case…….Niese looks like he has the stuff and temperament to be the Mets version of Andy Pettite. Anyone out there agree?

Unless we were offered a .300 hitter with 30 homer and 100 RBI who was 25 years old and no history of injury….I am not trading Jonathon Niese

Bourne’s too old for the kind of contract he’s going to want and the Mets are too financial-conscious….

IF SA and his cronies are worth their salt, they should be able to find a diamond in the rough for the CF lead-off guy. A guy like RA or Scott Harrison, overlooked but workable and wants to prove himself, yet doesn’t cost a boatload of cash.

He’s a left-handed starter, and the Mets have no other left-handed starter prospects in the high level minors. No way you even consider trading him.

No we should not trade him. Alderson should go after Micheal Borne, a good hitting catcher and a good power hitter to hit 4th in the lineup. Open the purse strings a little use some of the trade chips we have and maybe just maybe we can get some of this taken care of. We have the starting rotation looking pretty darn good for next year, no need to trade it away.

Well, according to an unnamed poster we have a glut of middle infielders who we can trade for a positionof need. It’s as easy as that. Tovar, Shields and Brown for Justin Upton. We get a RFer and ease the glut of middle infielders.

Fonzie, I think this new buzzword “creative” is simply another undefinable, subjective term people use to put unattainable goals on Sandy just so they can crow about how bad he is when those people’s demands haven’t been met. There are no “creative” trades because unfortunately for those select few who can’t see past their nose, the D-Backs won’t take Cedeno, Torres and Acosta for Upton.

They want creative trades, but refuse to part with Ike or Niese or Dickey or Harvey. Then who’s left to trade?

There are some here who think if you package together enough low level prospects you will get back good players. There’s not too many salary dumps nowadays as there was 5-10 years ago. We can’t keep relying on the Marlins to supply us with talent. If you want something good in return you have to give up something good. Some just don’t understand that.

I don’t see why there’s such an adamant feeling on either side of the argument. Why can’t the outlook on Niese be to not actively look to shop him, but if several holes can be filled, say a catcher, OF and a pitching prospect to take his spot in the next year or two, then maybe have that discussion? Which again, is not to say go ahead an pull the trigger, but at least have the discussion and see if it benefits the organization.

It seems that certain people think those who want to explore the idea of trading him simply want to dump him. That’s not the case. You don’t give five years to a guy you want to dump. But why do you have to staple his cleats in Queens? The goal is to make the organization better and you severly limit your ability to do that if you systematically remove all players with trade value off the block.

2 way street (and the author noted a few moves that Sandy deserved credit for). If you want to hang bed moves on a GM, you have to give credit for a good one. And signing Dickey to the deal he did was a very solid move.
