P does have a long way to go but it may take him a short time to get here. Remembering he is a college kid and they have the potential to rise through the ranks much quicker. I would not be shocked to see him in AAA in 2014.

Thole will never be the catcher on a competitive team. He has no strong redeeming quality. Plawecki has a long way to go seems to me to be a promising prospect. He certainly looks the part

What I like about P is that every report talks about his game calling ability. As a college catcher who called his own game that has to be very valuable. Something that many forget about Thole is that he has caught about the same amount of professional games as Pena… He’s still very inexperienced in terms of catching.

Plawecki, once he adjusts his approach at the plate (he looks at too many pitches, IMO), has a chance to be a good prospect.

Interestingly, we’ll see next year how the Mets feel about these guys since either or both of them could be assigned to St Lucie (definitely Maron).

Plawecki had a good first season as well. The average was only .250 but the power and OBP was good. 7 Hr in 216 AB.

Maron is a great catcher. MLB by 2015. Handles pitchers well, has a great memory of hitters/situations which only improves his game with action. Forget comparing against the team, near the top of the league for the past 2 years in hitting. Great eye at the plate, disciplined, high OBP. Only 21 years old, potential is sky-high.

I thought the same thing. I do think some guys had better years than what was suggested. Den Dekker for one, even after a terrible slump. Nice to see a catcher in the organization doing well. Does anyone know anything else about Cam Maron? Is he a good catcher? Does he have any power or power potential? How does he project? Is he a MLB starting catcher possibility? Will he stay behind the dish? What’s his favorite color?

Not that I want to be Debbie Downer but isn’t it kind of pathetic that we only have one hitter in the entire minor leagues that hit over .300 this season?

I mean that kind of blows don’t you think?

Also down at Kingsport and Brooklyn where the last two years of draft picks call home, they had like the worst hitting in their leagues playing against other teams draft classes.

Does this concern anyone in the least bit?

The fact that most are right-handed is definitely a good thing. I only wish they were a litle closer to the Majors because we could sure use one or two of them.

It’s interesting to see the HR leaders all are right handed except for Den Dekker.

Looking at the leaders as far as combined HR over the last 2 seasons I am impressed with how Vaughn’s power has grown and how young Aderlin still is considering the power he has already shown.
