Ok I'm game for serious...
If they are not really sandy supporters and just patient whay aren't they also waiting to defend the moves he has made as well?

Why do they jump with both feet and mount a fierce defense of a guy they CLAIM they are not sure of?

And why do they call those who ARE sure insane and inject themselves into an argument from a fence they claim to be sitting on?

Seriously!

SRT,

It's Bay-yawn.... Same tired argument. Watch the payroll increase, increase, increase with the previous GMs and then hold Sandy to the same standard when he cannot. Look, Phillips was an intern enthusiast and an overall bad GM, but he certainly made his good moves. Same goes for Omar. (Omar, I think was actually better than Phillips.) But regardless, they had the money to reach out and touch someone. Sandy does not. Should he have done better with the BP? yeah. Should he have found more SP depth? I wish he did. Trying to do that on $4.35... difficult for everyone but Trump, who passes gas and hundred dollar bills fall out his pant cuffs.

And no, Sandy does not wear teflon underwear, but expecting WS Rings with the economic environment this team is in is we-tar-dead.

There is no doubt srt is THE biggest Sandy supporter there is. It’s always somebody else’s fault and NOT Sandy’s according to her, even as the mainstream media is slowly starting to hold him accountable, as Francesca wonders aloud along with a lot of other Mets fans “what is the plan?”, and as Sandy hems and haws his way through one condescending, ugly interview after another. He’s an angle and nothing is his fault nor has he done anything wrong.

Let’s ignore the fact that other teams have been running circles around Sandy the last 2 years getting better players at good prices the Mets could have afforded while Sandy gets us Chin Lung Hu, Brad Emaus, Lucas May, D.J. Carrasco, Taylor Tankersley, Bucholz, Chuck James, Dale Thayer, Adam Loewen, Daniel Herrera, Adrian Rosario, Fernando Cabrera, Sean Kazmar, Josh Rodriguez, Armando Rodriguez…..am I forgetting anybody?

Remember Matt Tuiasosopo?

That’s a LOT of filler. He probably set a Mets record for signing so much filler – but it’s not his fault, Fred Wilpon made those decisions on those players while other teams got nice players on the cheap – according to srt Sandy is not to blame for all of that.

And how about not signing half the draft picks? Must be a Wilpon decision, not Sandy’s.

Sandy advising the Wilpons on baseball matters? And what to do in the best interest of maintaining a competitive team? Noooooooooooo! According to srt it’s the Wilpons who tell Sandy who to pick, who to trade, who not to trade, etc.

And where is the creativity in making trades? It does not exist with this Front Office. But according to srt it’s not Sandy’s fault. It’s the Wilpons telling him what to do.
Meanwhile you can google Sandy Alderson and relative keywords like moves, signings, etc and you will see PLENTY of writers, PLENTY of periodicals criticizing his work.

MEANWHILE when Steve Phillips first took over the Mets he immediately went into action making trades and building a contender. Although later in his tenure he made some free agent signings that didn’t work out Steve Phillips made some outstanding and creative trades almost as soon as he was hired!!!!!!! But he’s the bad guy. How dare he bring some happy seasons with very popular and likeable Mets teams to New York. How DARE HE!!

Here is Steve Phillips very first trade as GM of the Mets:
August 8, 1997
Traded Lance Johnson and PTBNL’s Mark Clark and Manny Alexander to the Chicago Cubs for Brian McRae, Mel Rojas, and Turk Wendell

Here is his 2nd trade:
December 18, 1997
Traded Fletcher Bates and Scott Comer to the Florida Marlins for Dennis Cook

Although is 3rd trade (Carl Everett for John Hudek was questionable, Hudak was later turned into Lenny Randle who became an outstanding pinch hitter for the Mets

Here is his 4th trade:
February 6, 1998
Traded A.J. Burnett, Jesus Sanchez, and Robert Stratton to the Florida Marlins for Al Leiter and Ralph Millard

So the point is Steve Phillips was bold, daring, and was off and running as Mets GM. He IMMEDIATELY went to work building a winner and maintaining a farm. He drafted David Wright and was the GM when Jose Reyes was signed.

Sandy? What was his first move? Brad Emaus or Chin Lung Hu?

The teams that are at the top of LOB's are usually the better offensive teams. Last year we were 6th in runs scored using a makeshift lineup for most of the year with all the injuries, 1st in the East division more than the division winning Phillies and this year we were 3rd in runs scored at the allstar break. The league leaders in OB% lead each league in runs scored, St Louis and Texas. That's usually the case every year. The bottom teams in runs in have low OB% and the top teams have high OB%. The Mets problem is they have a lot of younger guys that don't know how to execute. They're not supposed to take pitches down the middle. That's not what's being preached to them What's being preached is don't swing at pitches you can't hit. They have to learn to balance that out and it will come with experience. No one is preaching to them to take pitches right down Broadway.

LOL Fonzie,

They also led the leage in runs scored in 1976 and 1975 and finished second in 1974, 1973 and 1972. They also led the league in OBP in 1976, 1975 and 1974. They also finished first in batting in 1976,

So they left a lot of runners on base as they were driving them in as well.

I would take that trade-off every single time.

Hi Alex,

One thing missing from those stats is the on base percentage - and with that as a team the Mets are about average at .319 and that their OBP being 67 points above their batting average, three percentage points higher than the league.

But is OBP so important?

That's why your point is so well made - considering that the Mets put runners on base, they are stil leaving them on at an alarming rate of late. As of now, there are only four teams in the league that have a higher men left on base average than we do.

And last year we led the majors with runners left on base.

http://www.teamrankings.com/mlb/stat/left-on-base-per-game

My gathering is that Ojeda is implying that there are times to be aggressive and times to work the count but that it shouldn't be a rule written in stone but an approach to be used depending upon the situation, the hitter and the pitcher. By using it as a doctrine, the Mets have been hurting bad the past two seasons.

Or is that only for when we use it? but since SRT is one of your desert storm people you approve it right? see how easily you get exposed as a phony? Same thing that happen with kingman, you encourage his behavior up until he was banned from here, which, of course, was when you FINALLY realized how ignorant he was being right?
