It Still Hurts…

Time does not heal all wounds.
The pain of what happened on September 11th, 2001 has not subsided. We can put the tragedy of what took place on that day out of our minds, but we can never put it out of our hearts.
Every single day, Americans are still dying because of 9/11. Their lives continue to raise the death toll of that tragic day.
Let’s take some time to remember those victims and honor them. Let’s also take a few minutes to remember and honor those who still put their lives on the line every single waking hour, so that we here at home can go on living our lives and rebuilding the dreams that perished on that fateful day.
Tens of thousands of servicemen and women, don’t have the luxury of going online each morning to see what place their team is in the standings, or to read and write blogs about their favorite teams. They risk their lives so that millions of us can enjoy these simple pleasures.
The best way to honor the fallen is to go on living our lives and cherishing the freedom for which they died defending.
The best way to honor the heroes who still fight to preserve our way of life, is to live our lives in a manner that is worth defending, and to reflect the values and the virtues of being an American, every single day.
Freedom and liberty can mean a million different things to a million different people, but there is one common truth that our differences cannot dissuade. Freedom is as fragile or as strong as the will of those who are willing to defend it.
Support our troops, remember September 11th, and be proud to be an American.
It Still Hurts…

God Bless America.
Never Forget.
Amen.
11 years later and it’s as vivid as yesterday all the emotions of that day that come rushing back at this time every year.
Sept 11 a day to reflect on those lives that were lost and those still here whose lives were forever changed and a day to honor all those gave of themselves to help in any way possible and that fight for the freedoms we still have today.
Remember 9/11
Well said North.
It does still hurt……….
On the LIRR into the city this morning, looking at the skyline right before the tunnel, my eyes filled up…………..again………..
God Bless America
What is really eye opening as a 9th grade social studies teacher is that the kids that I am teaching weren’t in school at the time. They have no recollection of the event only what others tell them and they don’t know much even then because many have deemed it to harsh to show or talk about to the students. The clips from the event are never played on TV and very few if any quality movies have been made about the event. The thought process behind is that it breeds hate. Sorry but you can’t change history by ignoring events, thus you are doomed to repeat them. GBA.
I don’t think it’s suitable for 9 year olds but the 2 best documentaries I have ever seen on the topic is “9/11″ the documentary by 2 French brothers who have the only footage from inside tower 1 and “102 minutes that changed America” a History channel documentary compiled of footage from different people on that day.
9th grade, not 9 years old. I think I would be out of work and in a home. LOL. Anyway, I have found a few good documentaries. My point was that Hollywood isn’t touching it that much and neither are prime time news companies. It’s almost like they have been told, natta. I am not a conspiracy guy at all but imagine if we had deemed Pearl Harbor footage as breeding hate. I wonder how WWII would have turned out?
“9th grade, not 9 years old.”
Oops.
TRS86 — Thanks for your eye opening post. With the mentality of ‘kick us again’ promoted by many school boards and administrators, our kids are deprived of the reality of today’s events and likely their history which includes World War II. Shameful it is. Our kids then don’t get to appreciate the wonderful heroism of many of our best and brightest.
Oh don’t get me wrong, at the local level we teach the hell out of it… well at least some of us. I am more talking about at the national level, news media level and entertainment industry. How many times have you seen in the last 10 years a clip of the events of 9-11 on TV?
This is what bugs the hell out of me with hatgate… Do you think our grandparents and great-grand parents in baseball would have put up a fuss if a baseball team chose to wear hats remembering those who lost their life in Pearl Harbor? Seriously?
Never Forget, indeed.
The memory of all those victims, and all those heroes who tried to save those victims, will forever haunt this great nation of ours.
God bless America.
