If you were Wright, would you take this front office on its word? This contract will be Wright's biggest career move ever. Its now or never for him to be part of a winning organization. I just don't see the FO being able to do or say anything that would convince Wright or anyone else their plans and direction will result in a winning team. Payroll will not be increased and player development, as with any team, is no guarantee.

But yet again, it all goes right back to how you think Reyes was treated unfairly and that causes your hatred for Wright. You show it in every post. I think you honestly think you are getting people back for their feelings on Reyes by returning it on Wright. That makes no sense whatsoever. Each player and situation is unique. So in turn you are calling out Wright because someone else called out Reyes and you feel there is a double standard. You have said it from day one.

Hi Heybatter,

What Metsie says makes perfect sense and when looked at it in that context, one can understand the moves that were made starting with the signing of inexpensive players (Sandy's own description) to the ridding ourselves of still productive players of all-star quality to making no moves to strengthen a team so the players would not at least feel as if they were kicked in the teeth to signing the least amount of draft picks other than the Pittsburgh Pirates and not even negotiating a $60,000 difference between the Mets and one of their two number two draft picks (number 75 in the entire country). And that doesn't include the ten percent cut in non-roster operating expenses, a total re-organization of the business structure or negotiating with creditors the terms of paying back their debt obligations.

That was the plan to begin with and as many of us have suggested, the Wilpons could not advertise it as such and thus the public relations blitz about Sandy and his vision to offset it.

As you will notice, many in MMO who had faith in Sandy as a baseball person are now having second thoughts and just as many are starting acknowledge that his role might have had to do with developing an economic plan that would allow the Wilpons to still retain ownership. I know somebody who share his own Met blog with a friend of mine who had a strong allegiance to the moves Sandy was making, seeing them as part of a long-term rebuilding plan but now admits he too has second thoughts. His own feeling is that Sandy started out with this vision and then discovered how bad the Mets economic situation was. At least he's meeting me half-way now.

I would be shocked if David is re-signed for this will signal both a long-term financial commitment because Sandy always reminds us how teams can be burned by such agreements AND that it means that David's own assessment of the future looks good as far as him playing on a winner. Not to mention his own stance on keeping the payroll at most at the $100 million level. Considering that includes meeting the financial obligations already on the books for Bay and Santana (what is it, about $45 million between them?) that means around $55 million left for everybody else. If he does re-sign both David and R.A. that will mean the amount left for the rest of the team would be about......, oh well, we can then do all the arithmetic.

I wonder how Sandy can analyze the complex metrics he talked about last night yet cannot understand simple arithmetic. That's where the credibility gap again comes into question.

Wrong again, the only reason you and a few think i hate the guy is because i called them 4 years ago UNCLUTCH.. then it developed into something it's not. the kid is a good kid i am sure, nice guy, good looking guy, but he's not what mets fans (Me included) thought he was. we all thought he was the next Jeter with POWER, yet all we got is a decent/good player, and if you throw the last 4 years which, shockingly from 25-29 they have been so so if you ask me. The double standard is clear, it has nothing to do with reyes, what amazes me is that someone like you cannot see in a mirror what you accuse me of doing all the time, when reyes left people blasted him and went on to say asinine comments after asinine comments about one of the best player this franchise has had, however, when the same is been said about IF wright leaves, you jump out the water to defend wright to no end and call me and others haters etc. How pathetic is that? where we were when reyes was getting blasted for leaving? why the wright situation will be different? tell me what's different about wright and reyes?
When reyes left, it was good riddance, he didn't wanna be a met, he's this and that, but when i said that if wright doesn't wanna be a met good riddance to him as well you came out blazing your guns at me.. where were you when the reyes detractors were blasting him??? wouldn't you consider that DOUBLE STANDARD????

Not sure where that was disrespectful. I just stated what you yourself have said many times. Your dislike of Wright has foundations in the fact that you believe there is a double standard towards him and Reyes and because the fans and media seem to give him a pass. It's not like I am stating something you haven't said before.

Thus because of Reyes being slighted you developed a hatred for one of the best and perhaps statistically the best positional player the Mets have ever produced. I loved both of them and never understood the need to tear one down to bring another up. I also never got why you expected Mets fans on a Mets sight not to get upset when you constantly berate a guy that they consider a great Met.

Again, you didn't answer my question, if a player don't wanna be with the mets, what exactly would you say to that player? I didn't even see you around calling people vile etc when reyes left here and people were saying all kinds of stuff about him etc, hell, even an article was written the next day how that was the right move and thank god we got FFF, Rauch and Ramirez. Not a single peep from you, but as soon as i say the same about your golden boy then i'm vile and venemous.. SMH

Rosario is another by-product of Coorsfield who's numbers a weak on the road and Arenado is a nice but slightly overrated prospect who hits in hitters leagues and is avg otherwise. I can't see Colorado trading 2 young under control players for one year of David Wright. Makes no sense for them.

Since David will be set financially for life no matter how much or how little he signs for, money itself won't be the main issue. It will be where playing baseball can be fun once again instead.

If we as fans find Citi Field to be a morgue, imagine how the players must feel. I see him wanting to go for the bond he has with the fans can't be expected to be strong enough to keep him here. It wouldn't for any of us if we were in his position right now either.

That's how bad this organization has become thanks not to any vision about building for a future but the vision of having the name Wilpon remain on the door to the executive office.

Hi Gary,

I agree with your scenario about them simply not having the money and thus trading both David and R.A. when they can.

I suspect they might be trying to prepare the fan base for such since last week the broacaster on SNY were talking about whether it would be in the Mets best interests to trade both players when they can get something in return.

I could be wrong but it seems that they are already planting the seed in our heads.
