Going, Going, Gone: Keith Trashes The Stache

In front of a modest sized gathering at Citi Field, Keith Hernandez carried through on his promise and shaved his famous mustache in front of the Home Run Apple all in the name of charity.

The entire event was webcast on SNY.tv and Ted Berg gave the blow-by-blow as one by one his whiskers were carefully trimmed and shaved away.

In less than seven minutes, gone was the symbol that the American Mustache Institute dubbed the Top Sports Mustache of All-Time in 2007.

Records are being shattered all over Flushing these days…

“Can I open my eyes now?”

”The last time I shaved my mustache was sometime in 1987.”

“You haven’t seen the last of my mustache. I’m certain it will be returning in the future.”

Nice job by Keith who decided to shave his mustache and together with Schick Hydro, raised awareness for Alzheimer Disease and donated all proceeds for the Jacqueline Hernandez Adult Day Health Center, in Brooklyn, dedicated to his mother.
