Frank Francisco Could Miss All Of 2013 Season?

Check out this tweet from MLB Network regarding Mets closer Frank Francisco…

Umm…

The MLB Network is also reporting this on their on-screen baseball news ticker.

There has been no news or report about this from any Mets related sources or from a team release.

Last thing I heard was from Collins yesterday saying that Frank Francisco has no structural damage and does not need surgery, but might be shotdown for the season.

Francisco is owed $6.5 million for the 2013 season.

Developing story… Or non-story… I will advise….

UPDATED 12:30 – That didn’t take long. Adam Rubin just reported after speaking to a team source that Francisco will only miss the rest of this season and that the MLB Network report is untrue. But you cant believe anything Rubin says, so I’m thinking Francisco’s career is actually over… ;-)

Tell us who your source is Adam, we demand to know…

  • So…. Would this be consider then as a bad day for SA if true???

    • Personally if we have insurance, I consider it a good day (even though I never revel in a player getting injured).

My hopes for next year were having co-closers with Edgin and Rauch with Parnell as the setup guy.

    • Of course it’s a bad day…they DID say he will be here for 2013! LOL

  • Calling Familia. Could Familia please go to the nearest blue & orange phone. The 2013 closer’s role is calling you.

    • Little early for that but he certainly should be in the bullpen picture.

    • :-D I can live with him bringing his power arm to be closer… He throws so HARD. However, so did Mel Rojas and ambiorix burgos.. Lol

      • Man Burgos, I thought that was a great deal but it turned out to be a non-story for both. Other than vehicular homicide that is.

    • MNJ, that phone you hear ringing is in Sandy’s office and it’s Arizona calling, saying Familia, Mejia plus some others for Justin. ;)

      • One could only hope. But I keep telling you they want to compete next year so I am not sure they are looking for prospects if they deal Upton.

        • Looking at their roster, yeah, a Wright for Upton trade would be solid for them, but so would an RA for Upton trade. They’re back end of the rotation is not pretty. All in all, I can see them retooling for a year or two. I am not familiar enough with their minor league system to know what they have on the brink of being promoted.

          • Yeah, I guess a lot depends on the Dodgers and then what moves the Giants make but I see no reason they can’t compete for the wildcard next year considering their division and 3B was their only crappy position.

          • They have the best minor league pitching in the game by far. they’re not trading for any pitching.

            • Well, so much for that thought then… :-)

            • Yeah, I don’t see that one either. They traded away a back end guy already this year.
Of course looking they do have Chris Johnson at 3B now as well and he has done well since the trade.

            • They have Bauer, Skaggs and Bradley waiting in the wings. They will have a scary rotation over the next 6-7 year barring injury.

  • not true.

  • Also, as much as I am not a FFF fan, is it appropriate to shoot him down?

  • For closure: MLB Network did, in fact, misstate done for ’12 as done for ’13. Human error. Frank Francisco simply tendinitis, it’s believed.

    • ….
      Thanks Alex.

  • MORE POOP FOR METS FANS ! Still wilpons fault

  • If you can’t believe anything he says Joe, why do you listen/read him?
