Francesa Says Mets Are Asleep At The Plate, Then Falls Asleep On The Air

The last few times a post appeared on MMO about Mike Francesa, it was about him ripping the Mets front office, or the team, or the owners.

Less than two weeks ago, Francesa called the Mets offense pathetic. He said the Mets’ offense looked like they were asleep. He even went as far as accusing them of quitting on Terry Collins.

What goes around, comes around.

In stunning fashion, Francesa fell asleep on the air in the middle of an interview with Yankees’ beat man Sweeny Murti on Friday. It’s unmistakable to just about everyone who caught the show, and yet the Pope denies he did any napping on the job.

Here is the video… You be the judge.

Sleeping on the job?

Lying about it?

Did he quit on WFAN?

  • LoL, Francesa’s reply to this outside of his sick child of course was funny. He owned up to everything but actually falling asleep all the while saying it with a smile on his face as if he knows how funny that sounds after watching the video. You should of included his reply as well with this. It completes the story.

    • Saw this clip earlier this week as it’s made the rounds.

Listened to the link you provided.

Don’t care what he says it’s very clear he dozed off. Watch it w/o the sound. His shoulders drop, his head keeps getting lower and lower. He didn’t just close his eyes, as he claimed. The startled look in his eyes when he woke up is the proof. Looks the same as someone who’s sleep deprived does when they get behind the wheel and can’t stay awake.

He threw his wife right under the bus using her as the excuse as to why he even responded. He should have just left it alone. She’s right on one statement though…..he’s not 20 anymore. Get used to it, Mike.

  • Thank God I just don’t listen to this blowhard anymore. He thinks bloggers are a joke and acts like anyone who differentiates from his viewpoint should be tarred and feathered—LOL. How many employers would accept someone catnapping? Do that in the real world and see how quick you’re suspended or fired…His relevance has deteriorated as has his reputation…Thank Goodness…Buffoon…LOL

  • Oh because Francesa has been 100% correct in all his assessments on the Mets you’re now mad and now made a post to make fun of the greatest talk show host in NYC history whether you like it or not.

Cheap shot doesn’t matter. He’s still CORRECT and if he didn’t press Sandy Alderson during that famous interview where Alderson sounded disconnected, disinterested, and defeated he would have NEVER gotten an me culpa out of Saber Sandy. Also if Francesa didn’t press Alderson he also would have never said there would be changes next year either.

This post is nothing but just being a cry baby because Francesa was RIGHT!

    • I used to love Mike. I would listen to both he and MadDog–especially together. The problem isin’t that. Mike likes to pontificate about everything, and has allowed his ego and arrogance to get in the way. He doesn’t accept any dissenting viewpoint, if someone dissents from his opinion, he ridicules them and becomes outright nasty…with the cut button his favorite weapon.
I think Sandy’s a buffoon, and his tenure ridiculous…I give Mike credit for taking Alderson to task. He said alot of things that many of us feel, and he did make him look disconnected from the team.
Francesa’s when he’s passionate can be decent radio, but how often has Mike himself just “cashed it in”?

    • u trolling?

      • thats for bayonne

    • This story has been in ear and eye shot of every sports fan and even non sports fan in the NY Tristate all week, yet now this is just to take a shot at this buffoon? Please stop the madness.

His assessment is 100% aligned with yours, all opinion.

Greatest talks show host in NY? Yeah, if you have extremely low standards.

The guy is old, worn out and just pontificates, pawns off his opinion as facts, and bullies his callers if they don’t kiss his arse.

  • HA!

  • The Sports Poop, I mean Pope, strikes again!

  • No one noticed at the time because his entire audience fell asleep listening to him!

    • lol nice

  • His head never hit the table. That’s my standard and I sold it to my boss for 20 years. Technically I would call it a “Pre nap preparation practice in contemplation of a full blown midday snooze for the purpose of refreshing ones self for the vigors of what’s to come.” Besides if there was no drooling he was technically still awake. That was my uncle’s standard.

    • LOL Good stuff Lou…

  • It is silly, isn’t it? But perhaps Mike gets a taste of his own medicine for the way he was put down and ridiculed. Somehow I havethe feeling that most in that business have the skin to take it, anyway (unlike some of us LOL).

Also think Mike should take a lesson from Curly Howard. As a police officer his eyes seemed focused on his superior officer who was talking – until that office slammed his fist on the desk and woke Curly up. Moe’s brother had painted eyeballs on his eyelids and was sleeping throughout the whole thing!

  • Lol, you kinda have to admit though, he wakes up scared as sh** after falling asleep.. Who cares, we’ve all done it, i am sure Craig’s intention is to get back at him somehow for criticizing his boy SA.. Whatever..

  • Totally understandable that Mike would doze off. Murti is more boring than the Mets. I hear that Collins is motivating the Mets by telling them that their goal this year is to lose 90 games. Let’s hope they lose the 90th at home so we can all celebrate.
