INCOME! CORRECT!

Two years has he done anything to increase income?
Has it worked?
Has revenue gone up?
has all of his cuts actually turned the team into a profitable organization?

If not please tell me how the Wilpons are limiting him and not his own ignoring of the key financial thing holding him back INCOME!

Based on tickets, SNY revenue, merchandise sales etc etc.

Actually, the attendance decline started before Alderson got here. So, under your standards, we just established he was not starting from 0. Since the Wilpons were unable to put more of their own money into the program, the FO was forced to work with the dwindling revenues for an increasing payroll.

So, if revenues were already decreasing, payroll was set to increase and the owners did not have the cash available to pump into the team, where does the extra money come from?

Not what Madoff is giving back on investment..
Not how much money they have made in Real Estate…
Not how well SNY did…

ATTENDANCE which is the job of the GM to INCREASE not decrease as is the case two years running!

Run from that if it makes you feel better but stop trying to lay this off on the Wilpons as being the ones stopping Sandy from being all he can be!

He’s given a budget to work with, but what happens when half of that budget is tied up in 4 players? What happens when that budget is reduced each year?

What you saying only applies if each year you start from 0. That is most certainly not the case.

TheWilpons aren’t supposed to give Sandy money to work with…The GM is supposed to build a team that puts fannies in the seats, generating revenue that can be spent on players…

Not raid the Wilpon’s piggy bank because he sucks at doing that!

While I agree it was a ballsy move considering who the boss is lets not forget that Sandy is not as strong as he might appear to be.

He still has that attendance issue and the corresponding lack of revenue to work with.

At best if he trades both Wright and Dickey all he is going to save is 20 Mil leaving him 3 mil short from the losses he had this year due to attendance being down.

And without them attendance will plummet even further as Dickey has been the majority draw in the 2nd half.

If Attendance drops just another 160K per game he will lose another 20-30 Mil in revenue and evaporate that windfall Sandy seemingly is waiting to get from Bay and Santana.

All the big contracts will be gone and not even a sliver of payroll flexability will remain!

Sandy gets the boot and we will be left to deal with the disaster that remains for the next 10 years!

This guy Dickey is so amazing on so many levels that it seems unreal–from tremendous MLB success story relatively late in athletic life to his cerebral yet accessible way of describing who he is, what baseball is all about, what it means to be a Met, and so on.

He has fast become one of the greatest Mets of all time. I am just hoping he’s with us when the Mets achieve much greater success.

Ohh yeaah… I thought the same thing, i said “is this guy seriously?” he’s 100% don’t get me wrong, but he still is not a FA to be, his option can be picked up and for disrespecting the lord, he might secretly be shopped around this offseason. In some point, his value will never be as high now, we should for once, sell high imo.I think with beltran he sort of did that, we’ll see if it pays off, but with dickey and Captain Unclutch we should do the same and sell high on these 2

Dickey was good as gone when he mention the Mets not trying to being serious contenders anytime soon if they dont make a SERIOUS effort to re-sign him and Wright. Dickey remembers the Mets B.S. attempt to re-sign Reyes by not offering him a deal all the while telling anyone who’d listen they were going to do everything possible to re-sign Reyes then not offer a deal.

Its like Deja Vu

Dickey also gave his Mets career a death blow when he mention he wants to talk more money in contract negotiations. One thing Alderson doesnt do is pay good players money.

Great for dickey, and to think… to almost think, that rauch you know, one of the guys from the good day of alderson almost blew the save. i wonder what woulld’ve happened if rauch did? would terry then give dickey another start? It certainly would’ve been interesting. But i think the guy earn his first CY YOUNG AWARD
