Describe The Mets 2012 Season In One Word

Yesterday, I emailed our MMO staff and asked them to describe this 2012 New York Mets season in just one word. Fifteen of them replied…

I took those words and dropped them into a graphic that kind of explains how we felt about this season.

Is this a pretty good reflection of how you saw it?

I guess it’s cool that at least one of us saw the season as progress. But for the most part nobody sounded too thrilled about the season in general even though we did have some nice moments (Johan’s No-Hitter, Dickey’s 20 win season) and some positive developments (Matt Harvey, Ruben Tejada).

Let’s keep it going and see what you fine ladies and gents come up with. :-)

  • R(esplendent) A(chievement) Dickey!

  • Can we know who actually said PROGRESS???? That person cannot be serious, and if that person is, he should tell us why this PATHETIC (That’s my word to describe the season) season was in some way a progress?? From what exactly was this season a progress??? I mean, LOL, you have got to be kidding me… is one thing to be optimistic, but come on, if that isn’t sucking up to SA i don’t know what is!

  • Habitual

  • PUTRID

  • All of the above except for progress (first word that came to my mind was disappointing). We’re gonna be lucky to even match last season’s win total and that’s somehow making progress? Call me blind, but I don’t see it. The mantra for this team for years has been “wait till next year”.
From what I’ve been reading here, it might as well be “wait until 2014″.
The Mets look poised to punt away 2013 as well by not spending any money to improve the team.

  • Whappened?

  • HELP!

  • Even though it is two words, roller coaster is the best one word description. The first half with the amazing come back wins and Johan’s no hitter. The over achievement of a team we thought had no chance (which after the AS break we see the real team). The RA season, David Wrights first half, Reyes who? Tejada takes over, Ike’s return to form from a horrible first few month. While this season didn’t lead to the playoff promise land like we all would love, I don’t consider is a total disaster. It was entertaining and it’s highs and painfull at its lows, all in all a roller coaster

    • Hey Chris – that was my word! Before I sent it to Joe I checked my sources as any good blogger would do and according to dictionary.com, rollercoaster is 1 word and can be used at 2.

      • Oh ok good, then I’m in total agreement

  • MONEYBALL

  • Typical.

  • METS

  • Schizoid.

  • Progress?

    Too Funny!

The word I would use is “WASTED”

  • When you see all the words like that in the graphic one thing becomes clear. One word can not describe the season when all those words are valid descriptions in and of themselves.

  • “some positive developments (Matt Harvey, Ruben Tejada).” + Ike coming back 2 nd half of season from his ankle injury and Valley Fever to hit over 30 homers and maybe over 90 RBI’s after a horrendous beginning.

    • sh****

  • Unsurprising.

    Expected.

    Revolting.

  • Bipolar.

    • Best one yet. I give you the Uneven Flow award. “As goes DW as goes the Mets.”

  • 1. Entertaining

    2. Fun

Sorry but they exceeded my expectations and I got a no-hitter, a 20 game winner, and 30 homer season on top of that. Yep, it was fun and entertaining and far better than 2009-2011. :-D

    • Very true!

  • Endurance

  • mmmmmmmmm

  • DICKEY!

  • Loathsome, I really wanted them to achieve at least a winning season. I got caught up in the first half, and then when no one tried to fix the ‘blowpen” I knew it was going to be trouble, just how much I could not imagine ……..

  • Diarrhea
