Thats easy to answer…
He’s a good player, they know he is good he just isn’t superstar so they know they can get something for him in trade where the rest they think they get nothing…

Called the easy way out and why there was such support for trading Beltran and K-Rod…
If the folks around here started looking for multiples that are NOT all that good to trade for one guy that was instead of constantly looking for who is doing good and can get something (seemingly what Sandy is doing from previous trades made) then maybe we would actually be rebuilding this team instead of tearing it down!

We got rid of our best CF for Torres and Ramirez…Anyone really think we came out ahead on that deal?
Everyone liked it why? because they thought the value they gave away was going to be less than what they got back…Didn’t happen!

They are just looking for guys to make trades because they are tired of the inaction of the FO.
And since the guys who are good enough to keep have an OBVIOUS trade value those are the guys they want to trade as opposed to the crap guys we should send off in quantity for one Murphy!

Still don’t understand why Murphy has become the whipping boy for so many and why they would even think of trading him and creating another hole. Second base, as you point out, is one of the positions we don’t have to worry about, just like center field was last year until a hole was created there.

He is not an all-star but can field second and has learned how to play it (if I remember on a recent play which was botched he was the only infielder in the proper position). He is a solid hitter and the gripes about his lack of power would be nill had Duda and Davis hit like we thought they would.

As for Murphy being tired well he has never played this much in a season yet!
His fullest season was 2009 and that was two knee operations and shortened seasons as a result ago!
He is still our third best RBI guy behind Wright and Ike
And he doesn’t hit a lot of HRs or as many as Ike but then again he doesn’t currently have a .219 BA either.

The worst you can say about him is he is a Luis Castillo in range but he hits .286.
Is he going to be the best 2B in the league? No!
But he sure won’t be the worst either!
Murphy is the least of our worries.

But if you don’t have the tools it is tought to do your job. You can motivate so long before your not listened to any more. TC in game strategy was always poor. But his motivation was superb. The team may not have quit but ownshership did. The bubble burst and the ugly warts are showing. No spped, no power, players out of position, poor defense caused by that, mental errors on base path. A too lefty lineup. No major league outfielders. I almost forget the BP. Not one guy you can count on. We are witnessing the exception to the rule that SP is ninety percent of the game. The Wilpons and SA are going nowhere. TC is a good candidate because Wally will be; one way or another, a major league manger next year.
