Totally agree with you Gary. Are we just gonna go with 100% prospects and no veterans on this team? It’s insane to think this way, we need Wright. This team needs Wright.

Why not add a player like Flores at 2nd base in a year or 2 in addition to wright (sign him) ?Wright is the only all star caliber player on the team.I am really starting to hate this team and the trade Wright for prospects crap.What prospects?You have no idea if these “prospects” will ever pan out.David Wright has been great this year.All it will take to keep him on the team for five years is for these pieces of crap Wilponzi’s to spend some of their money.These comments are giving me a headache.What kind of world do Met fans live in?DAVIDWRIGHT IS IN HIS PRIME!!!!!!!!!Why do u people want to get rid of him when all it takes is money to keep him??

There’s a lot of similarities between Flores’ short compact swing and Edgardo Alfonzo’s. Flores may wind up with a bit more power but they’re both similar hitters.

I think he could be Mig. Cabrera-lite. Cabrera hits like 320/410/550 every year; i wouldnt be surprised if wilmer could average something like 310/380/500.

I think we’re mostly agreed. And I even like your point about Wright blocking Flores, that’s very legit. I think the kid could be very special and a very high level player for us. Miguel Cabrera though is where I shrink back. Miggy is arguably the best hitter in baseball, and I’m not sure Wright or anyone could’ve held his bat back, even in 2003. Remember Mike Lowell (I’m not saying he’s David Wright) but he was a legit veteran 3B in 2003. And that year he hit .276/32 HR/105 rbis. He was legit, and Miggy pushed him out.

I wish Flores can be as special as Miggy, but I’ll take even David Wright, or that version of Mike Lowell from the kid.

I love Flores more than most. Someone on another site was giving me flack for having him ahead of Nimmo because I like that Flores is actually doing his thing at AA and Nimmo is two levels behind. Give Nimmo credit for being solidly better than league average in a level where he’s two years younger than most. But Flores is starting to dominate AA, and he’s also very very young for his level.

That said, he’s no Miguel Cabrera. At 20 Miguel Cabrera was holding his own in the Majors and helping lead the Florida Marlins to a championship. I’l settle for Flores being an All-Star cost-controlled 3B though. The front office can enjoy his price tag, and we the fans can enjoy him being good at baseball.

I will say this today, and you can book it, Wilmer Alejandro Flores will be a MONSTER for this team, that is why losing DW is not gonna be as bad as some people think. trade the guy while his value is up and get more prospects, then give the 3B keys to Flores. this kid got miguel cabrera type talent written all over him.
