I think moving him to the outfield is a great idea. we need a righty bat in the outfield. Plus with so much up in the air with this teams OF, why not give the kid a shot. I want him to play, but the infield is crowded

I agree, trying out Flores in left field makes plenty of sense. Hell, I'd also think about trying Aderlin Rodriguez out there.

You are one of the most knowledgeable baseball guys on this site, but your association with rum runner Bayonne Met Fan takes away from any insights you offer. I actually enjoy reading your comments in the shoutbox, but you would be taken more seriously if you just cut your association with that neanderthal.

Petey I got into it on this very subject with your co-writers Jessep and Donal about two weeks ago. I ended up telling them to off themselves when I saw how embarrassing their lack of any minor league insight was. In their utter depravity to disagree with me just for the purpose of firing me up. They were dumbfounded as to why I would claim Flores' future lies in left field. This coming from two guys who haven't watched him play over 100 times including a dozen times live when I go to our summer timeshare in St. Lucie every year. You didn't mention his arm which would be a strength in LF. Also he has great instincts and speed that would serve him well in LF. He's come along way since his debut at 16 years old when he went 3 for 5 with a HR and 3 RBI for Kingsport. Petey, don't you hate when people who don't even watch the minors argue with you about the minors? You can answer that in your next segment.

I know he was signed at a very young age, but after 5 years in the minors, I have to begin wondering: will he be the next Fernando Martinez or Lastings Milledge? Why can't the Mets ever come up with the next Chipper Jones or Robinson Can (other than maybe David Wright)? Are the scouts and Farm System really that bad? As I've said, the Yankees sign Hidecki Matsui and the Mets sign Kaz Matsui. 'Nuff said.

Great post. you have a way of weaving a story, Petey.
Also, it makes perfect sense. What do they have to lose by trying Flores in the OF anyway?

My advice to you (and anyone else) Don't take a lady home with you if you been drinking shots all Nite!

And Ladies the same goes for you regarding men too! LOL

I personally feel that The kids in the Minors should be required to play both Infield and OF throughout thier Development. And in the IF they should be forced to play all the IF positions. Even if it means rotating them in the same game every now and then.

This should happen at least is A and AA levels. In AAA it makes a bit more sense to have figured out thier best position to most likely make the team and they should get the majority of playing time at that position there so they are ready to play it in the Show.

But having that experience playing those positions earlier in thier development will make it a lot easier to move them around when needed once they get promoted to the MLB.
