If you thought these guys were good enough then why blame them for doing what the GM did when he was the FIRST one to quit on this season?

If you think they were not good enough then you can’t blame them for being what they are you blame the guy who decided to go with them!

But what you appear to prefer is to blame the players and not the guy who decided to go with them for a season!

Maybe he has excuses maybe he doesn’t!
But the problem is he decided who it was we went with not the players or the manager!

Yeah lets finish in 3rd place behind the Nats by 25-30 games. Is that supposed to be some kind of accomplishment around here? Thats really reaching for greatness.

Some people might call me a fake Mets fan for saying this, but in a year like this I would rather finish last in the division, than to finish 3rd. Reason being even if we do finish 3rd, we’re gonna be alot closer to last place than first anyway. The Marlins and Phillies may only finish a game or 2 behind us in the standings. Is that some kind of victory to celebrate?

I’d rather have the higher drafting position than the Marlins and Phillies anyway. We’re a franchise that is in desperate need of impact position player talent in the minor leagues. Do we want to finish 3rd to give off a false impression of improvement when it means that teams within our division can draft better players ahead of us? I don’t.

Its this kind of short sighted thinking that has contributed greatly to the Mets being where they have been the last few years.

as to TC, I always felt he was just a transitional guy to ride out the bumpy period (ditto for Sandy). No problem at all with him coming back to finish out the cleansing cycle in 2013, but I have no desire to see him in 2014.

and if you want to avoid the whole lameduck nonsense, announce at the beginning of the year that he is finishing out his contract, then moving back into a player development role. And if they already know who the replacement will be, put him on the staff as bench coach or something.

but regardless, they need to fire Warthen as soon as the season ends.
