Mets Lower Minors: Kingsport Gives Me A Reason To Be Happy
Charlotte 9, St. Lucie 8
The St. Lucie bullpen just could not hold a lead in this game as they allowed five runs in the last two innings.
Key Players:
Alonzo Harris – 1 for 4, HR, 2 RBI, 3 R
Richard Lucas – 3 for 4, 2B, 2 RBI, R
Danny Muno – 2 for 4, RBI, BB
Jacob Degrom – 3 IP: 2 H, ER, K
Three errors led to two unearned runs on the evening, including one in the ninth.
Player Of The Game: Adrian Rosario for being the best pitcher on the day: 1.2 perfect innings while totaling three strikeouts. He lowered his ERA to 1.11.
Hickory 12, Savannah 5
Savannah got blown out on Saturday in a 12-5 loss to the Hickory Crawdads.
Key Players:
Camden Maron – 1 for 1, 2B, 2 R, 3 BB
Brian Harrison – 1 for 4, HR, 3 RBI
Greg Pron – 1 for 4, HR, RBI
Yohan Almonte – 3.1 IP, 5 H (3 HR), 4 BB, 6 ER
Player Of The Game: Tip of the hat to Harrison for his three-run shot. Tough day for Almonte, who was making his first start in Savannah after being in St. Lucie all season. Keep your head up, man.
Vermont 4, Brooklyn 1
There just was not enough offense to back a decent outing by Luis Mateo,
Key Players:
Julio Concepcion – 0 for 3, RBI
Juan Carlos Gamboa – 2 for 4, R
Luis Mateo – 5 IP: 5 H, 2 ER, BB, 4 K
Paul Sewald – 2 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 3 K (First two earned runs this season. He now holds a ridiculous 0.79 ERA in 22.2 IP.)
Player Of The Game: Mateo, for providing a pretty good start as he continues to improve.
Special Notes: I hope David Wynn does not feel like I am not giving him credit – because he allowed no earned runs in his inning pitched and dropped his ERA to 1.86. 1.86 and 0.79 are pretty wicked ERAs, guys.
Kingsport 8, Elizabethton 4
A week from my last look at Kingsport – Akeel Morris still rocks and Maikis De La Cruz drove in 3 in a Kingsport victory.
Key Players:
Maikis De La Cruz – 2 for 5, 3 RBI
Yeixon Ruiz – 3 for 4, 2B, 2 R, 2 RBI
Akeel Morris – 3 IP, H, BB, 0 ER, 5 K
Jeyckol De Leon/Branden Kaupe/Alex Machillanada: Each of them had a hit and an RBI.
Player Of The Game: A split between Akeel Morris and Maikis De La Cruz.
Kingsport Notes: Steven Matz was placed on the 7-day DL on August 17th. However, it is nothing to be worried about. Our own Petey Pete got to ask Matz himself right here.

Muno looks like is going to finish the season on a strong note. So far he is hitting .373/BA for the month of August. I am guessing it is safe to say that if Mateo has not been promoted to Savannah by now he most likely will finish the season at Brooklyn.
Looks like St Lucie is ready for the FSL Playoffs- NOT. Just like last year win the first half ans SUCK in the playofffs!!!
