Mets Lower Minors: Fulmer K’s Eight, Plawecki Goes Deep Twice

Kevin Plawecki has 6 HRs in 162 AB so far this season – and 3 in his past ten games.

Charlotte 5, St. Lucie 4

Another tough loss in the ninth for St. Lucie on Sunday.

Key Players:

Richard Lucas – 1 for 4, 2 RBI

Danny Muno – 2 for 4, RBI, 2 R, SB

Chase Huchingson – 7.0 IP: 12 H, 2 BB, 4 ER

Jeffrey Walters – 1.1 IP: H, ER, 4 BB, 2 K, L

Player Of The Game: Solid start for Chase Huchingson and it was good to see Lucas drive in more runs. His season total is now 48, second to Cory Vaughn’s 62.

Hickory 5, Savannah 3

Savannah drops another game to Hickory on Sunday after the blowout Saturday.

Key Players:

Camden Maron – 1 for 3, RBI, BB

Brandon Brown – 1 for 4, HR.

Cole Frenzel – 2 for 3, BB

Michael Fulmer – 5.2 IP: 9 H, 2 BB, 5 R (4 ER), 8 K

Player Of The Game: Estarlin Morel and Jared West for 2.1 scoreless innings after Fulmer’s departure. Hat tip for the 8 K’s, though.

Brooklyn 2, Vermont 0

Hansel Robles was brilliant and he was backed by Kevin Plawecki, who continues to back me up.

Key Players:

Kevin Plawecki – 2 for 3, 2 HR, 2 RBI, 2 R, BB

Jayce Boyd – 2 for 4

Hansel Robles – 6 IP: 2 H, BB, 3 K, 0 ER

Craig Hansen/Beck Wheeler/Tyler Vanderheiden – A scoreless inning of relief each, with Vanderheiden picking up the save.

Player Of The Game: Split between the offensive juggernaut Plawecki and the superb starter, Hansel Robles.

Elizabethton 3, Kingsport 2

Elizabethton broke a 2-2 with a walk-off victory in the ninth in a well fought game against our Kingsport Mets.

Key Players:

Jorge Rivero – 2 for 4, HR, 2 RBI

Tomas Nido – 2 for 4

Andrew Massie – 5 IP: 4 H, 2 BB, ER, 4 K

Player Of The Game: Andrew Massie for a solid start. Jorge Rivero is batting .429 in his past 10 games, however.

  • Happy to see the Mets drafting catchers Plawecki and Nido.

    • well, if you don’t have a catcher you will have a lot of passed balls…

  • Nice 2 hr game from Plawecki.

  • Satish – Who would you like to see in the Mets rotation come September?

    • The MLB Mets?

Well, I think Santana should be shut down to avoid any further stress right now. The six-man rotation would be pointless with him shut down, so I think that would be cancelled.

Dickey, Niese, and Harvey will get their starts in until Harvey reaches his innings limit. Young can round out the fourth spot. If he continues to pitch at least at an average level, he could probably be depth/competition for the fifth starter job next year.

Jeurys Familia might get called up for a bullpen role and Meija as well. The season is lost so I guess it wouldn’t hurt to give Meija or Familia a start each. Hefner can replace the rest if they are unsuccessful.

    • Not sure what the situation is with McHugh, but he’s also a name I’d definitely throw out there.
