I think his results in AAA prove that Mejia should be a starter going forward. If we need an electric relief guy, maybe put Familia as a closer instead. Plans change and I think its time that they give up on Mejia the relief pitcher.

Personally I think they should ditch Santana this offseason or next trade deadline so Mejia could be an option to replace him. I see absolutely nothing wrong with having too many almost MLB ready starting pitchers. Mejia, Wheeler, McHugh, Familia, and then all the others working their way up high in the minors. We may have something here…

Now here’s what the FO should do: Shut down Johan or maybe experiment with him as a LOOGY for the rest of the year. Bring up Mejia as the replacement. Voila! 2 problems solved: Starter gets quality start and we have 2 lefties in bullpen.
