Best player on the Mets is Ike Davis to me even when he was hitting .160 some thing I knew he would start to shine again just wait and see next year.

Nice post, but we have to hang on to him and see which Davis shows up in 2013. Cant risk trading a guy was hitting like Joey Votto before he got hurt in 2011. We have to know if he was affected by rust and fever this season which could be the case.

Ike is the real deal…This is as close to full season as he has ever played!

Let him play another full one next year and then decide!

Because I bet he looks a lot more like he did in his two half season than he looked in the first half of this one!

Agreed, when June rolled around and Ike was still hitting a buck sixty something talks of sending him down were legit.

hard to say what would have happened if they had sent him down earlier. Since the “fix” involved changing his stance and tweaking his swing, along with the mental aspect 9seeing pitches, etc.), he just as easily could have done that in AAA, and possibly quicker, if he was not worried about trying something new on the fly in the majors. Both sides of the arguement were valid.

thankfully though, it worked out it seems. If he can just put up his #s since he bottomed out (mid-June?) for a full year next year, he could be a force.

In retrospect it may come to pass that one of the best moves made this season may just have been allowing Davis to work through his struggles at the big league level.

Ike is not going anywhere. You have to have other options in your organization to consider moving him, and right now, we have none.

Ike is as good as gold as our first baseman for 2013 and probably beyond.

I’d settle for 250/360/525 30-35 bombs 30-35 2B’s. Can’t have a middle of the order bat at 1B hitting 220/290/440. His glove took a bit of a step back too. His 2nd half at least gives a ray of hope that he can be a fixture at 1B. 264/340/556 since the allstar break compared to his 1st half 201/271/388.
