RA needs to be brought back, maybe 3 years, including 2013, and maybe mutual option with certain numbers being reached since knuckle ball pitchers tend to pitch into later years.
Last thing I would want is for Yanks or someone in NL East getting RA as he continues to refine the art of the “hard” knuckle ball.

David needs to be signed long term also along with Mets explaining long term/2-3 window to allow David to see what is coming down the road.

Ultimately it will come down to $$$$$$$$ because Madoff situation has been put in past, probably wind up getting money from trust; wouldn’t that be wild.

Johan/Bay contracts come off payroll after 2013 so almost $50 million will be off books; so why can’t some of that go to David/RA plus p/u RH power bat for OF going forward which would balance lineup and give David the help he needs and find a BP arm or two since Edgin, Ramirez, FF, Parnell, are probably set so you just need maybe two more arms if you re-sign Rauch, he’s earned it.

RA is an everyday Joe to most of us, the guy who lets his faith guide him during his travels in baseball and then exploding on scene has allowed him to help many people with story in his book that makes him a regular guy to most.

He is the perfect face of a team that has made many signing mistakes but won’t make one in bringing back RA because RA has shown his value to team and community.

They will excersze the option if they can’t get a deal done and then trade them at the deadline and move on.

If you can’t make a deal in November of 2012 you won’t make one in November of 2013 so might as well do what this guy always does and let them go and hope he gets some kid that makes us forget about them!

And that signing them won’t prevent them from doing anything else they need to do for 2013 (mostly because there will not even need to be any cost increase in 2013 anyway, since the new deals will kick in for 2014.
