Well we already knew there was a hole in the system in between guys like Kirk and the next group that started the year in A ball. Not shocking that some of those guys forced to be promoted either aren’t ready or are low ceiling guys.

What I got from the interview is that Backman understands the role that is of a minor league team – to develop players on their way to the majors. He didn’t seem too upset about the final outcome of the season but when asked the question about falling to the cellar he gave an honest answer – the loss of so many players and not getting enough players of equal quality to replace them.

The won/loss record could be seen as disturbing to some who see it as a reflection of the limited amount of talent of those new players, the next wave of rookies circa 2014/15. It is probably more a case of less experienced prospects adjusting to tougher competition in this, the next step of their learning process.

So you mean the players didn’t quit on him? Lol. Or maybe they quit on the organization because Sandy didn’t get them any help? Or maybe they aren’t as good now as they were due to a whole bunch of reasons.

The team was a shell of the team that bulldozed through the International League for the first 2-3 months of the season. Them losing Harvey is akin to us losing Dickey. Nieuwenhuis and and Valdespin were their 3 and 4 hitters. When he lost Rottino and Quintanilla it was half of their infield and not only did they not return but ended up with different organizations.

Back in May, when I said if the Mets keep screwing their Buffalo team like they had been, there’s no way they re-sign a new PDC with the Mets. Buffalo is independently owned and their livelihood is also based on the product on the field.

They also lost the league’s leading hitter in BA, OPS, and OBP at the time Bobby Scales who went to Japan despite leading the league in a dozen different categories. He was their equivalent to Wright and wanted more money but the Mets were only paying him the minor league minimum.

You are being too critical, some excuses suck like saying we miscalculated the market and misjudged the value of relief pitchers, other excuses are valid like Backman’s.

I don’t pretend to follow the minors much and I can’t see the video right now but which key players did he talk about?

Satin, Tuiasososopo, Pascucci, Lewis, May, Den Dekker, Emaus, Lutz, Rodriguez, Loewen, Reyes, Quintanilla, Johnson, Navarro, Wimberly, Rottino are their players with 35+ games for Buffalo.

So other than Q, who did they lose?

Obviously they lost Harvey and Edgin – but who else was such a big loss that would warrant this excuse?

I’m trying real hard to not be critical – I hate when Managers use excuses though, hate it. So if somebody could fill me in please, I would appreciate it.
