Nimmo was a deadline deal, Mr 303 IQ.

When was last year's deadline? August 15th.

When is the trade deadline? July 31st.

You need more of my help, or can you piece together the rest?

Here's an idea.

The Mets should offer to pick up most of the money in order to give a lesser prospect back.

But before we jump the gun, lets see what the Beato addition does before we get crazy.

Lets not forget also that a lot of players will be DFA later on in this month when teams start trading and need spots on the 40 man roster.

Yes, as has been explained to you, you can't trade a draft pick for the first full year after he signed.

What do you think of another RH corner bat like Delmon Young of the Tigers? Personal problems aside, the man has always been money in the 2nd half. He gives us another RH power bat in LF. He's just a few seasons removed from a 21 HR season in Minnesota. I don't think he'd really cost us a lot, so there's an option. I'd rather go with him than Francoeur.

As far as Duda goes, if we do get another power bat, especially one that can hold it's own in the OF, trade Duda to an AL team. The man is a 1B/DH type that has no business being in the OF, period. It's to the point that people trust Murph's D a lot more than Duda's, and that's saying something. Let's face it, we just hoped Duda's bat would make up for it, but it's backfired. I've heard many times how some miss Pagan. Pagan never left if you see Duda. Duda is Pagan with power, without the speed and the ability to hit for a high average.

I am sure this will be a very unpopular viewpoint.

The best thing that can happen to the Mets is that they drop out the race and trade some of their aging assets before their trade value is gone. I would trade Santana to either LA Angels or Toronto for some of their young talent. Angels could part with Trout or Bourgos both great OF prospects and the Toronto has a boatload of young prospects. I would also unload Jason Bay to anyone who would take him, Get rid of Francisco and keep Dickey and resign Wright.

Even if the Mets make the playoffs they have no chance to make it past the first round,

Personally I actually really liked Frenchy. But, I don't think you move Duda to a platoon role to get Frenchy.

I think if you're getting a RHB in the OF it has to be a LF. Wasting Frenchy in LF is a bad idea, and moving Duda to LF to platoon is a bad idea in my personal view.

That's why I want Willingham. He's a LF, righty bat, solid hitter etc.

In my opinion, the thing this team needs most is a right-handed power bat. The guys I would call about are Carlos Quintin, Josh Willingham and Michael Cuddyer. Cuddyer is a long shot, but worth a phonecall. A closer would be great and I honestly think Houston Street would be somewhat doable without giving up too much. Nothing should force us to trade our future. Untouchables are: Wheeler, Harvey, Familia, Flores, Vaughn, Luis Mateo, Nimmo and Fulmer.
However, the iffy one on this list for me is Familia. If we have the opportunity to aquire a major piece in the off-season, or next season, Familia should be the expendable one of the group. Mateo looks more promising to me anyways.

Dude are you a Yankee fan? Our minors went from worst to one of the best in just a couple years. That doesn't mean trade top talent for old, one-hit-wonder types like the rich idiots in the Bronx. We have plenty of good prospects under our top-tier prospects. The SMART thing to do is continue DEVELOPING our top talent to build a DYNASTY in the future. Screw one championship, I WANT 5!
