Amazin your constant need to compare the Mets and Alderson to Penn State only further proves your reasons for coming to this site are to fill blogs up with non-sensible garbage.

If you want to state an opinion, one that I dunno actually has merit or value go ahead. We don't have to agree but ALL you do here is reply specific to other posters and your views of THEM and not the Mets or situations the Mets are dealing with.

It's getting old.

Hey heybbatter ,aybe the Mets could never get a Harper but hey heybatter how did the Angels, never a bad bad team get a Trout? Trout's 20. If he were a Mewt he'd be in St Lucie because he wasn't ready, whatever the f that means to lord alderson.
And the Nats are more than Harper. They abour keeping a Desmpnd in the lineup while he figures it and they are about keeping an Espinosa in the lineup while he figures it out. The Mets have no plan and no thought process. a met kid struggles and he rots on the oine Kirk or gets sent down to pout Duda or Beato. Do they replace them with kids for the furte. SURE Hairson and Acosta is the Alderson vision of the future. Stinky and cheap.

Upton will not be traded in season at least, but yes he's something to look at. The Mets have many needs. The problem with in season moves is that contenders, of which there are many this season due to increased parity and an extra wild card spot, are attempting to improve for a stretch run. Prices for additions are high, and it's not a time to be buying towards building for the future unless you have a star to sell off high, like Beltran last year. The Mets have no one that fits the bill this year unless you would want to trade Wright. Dickey also, but due to age how much would he really bring back.

If you want to get things, you have to give up some pieces. Which is why you hear names like Murphy mentioned when people want to make trades. You have to give up something useful to get back something worthwhile. It's the nature of the beast.

The offseason is where the work really begins. Tejada and Wright are the only everyday players who you can say deserve to be penciled in for 2013. Murphy has a great bat, but his diminished power numbers and lack of a defensive position hurt his value, especially on a team that doesn't have power elsewhere and is in the National League. I like Murphy, and he has improved defensively, but does that make him an everyday 2nd basemen? I can't honestly say yes with conviction. Ike has a pathetic batting average and isn't producing power as was hoped. Also, I don't see the great defense that so many people lauded. Is he the long term answer there? Again, I can't say yes with conviction. So, where do we go from here?

Free agency can offer some solutions, but who knows the true financial state of this team? I would hope that it will improve with the court decision from the beginning of the season, but the only way to really tell will be once the season ends and the team gets to work. We obviously need a few pieces in the bullpen, a starter or two, a whole new outfield, a catcher, and first base and second base are open as far as I am concerned as well. Not saying we can't consider players we have in house, but thought needs to be put into the positions as well.

Another thing this team needs to do is stop platooning everybody, mostly the young guys. The only way to find out if they are true pieces for the future is if they can produce everyday, no matter if a righty or lefty is pitching. I'm not saying you can't have platoons. But let's see if Spin, Kirk, Murphy can hack it on an everyday basis. Right now, I don't know at all. And frankly, it's infuriating.

In regards to first base, that's also Duda's natural position. Maybe if he's more comfortable somewhere defensively his offense will benefit, might be something to consider moving forward depending our the Ike outlook is.

Either way, I'm getting away from the original point. Yes, the team is not one or two moves away from being a lock for anything. Yes, improvements can be made to start on some of the perceived deficiencies in the team. However, I don't feel that now is an optimal time to address them due to the climate of the league. Though obviously I would hope they are taking a chance and looking into available opportunities at all times and judging the pros and cons of any offer they intend to make based on the long term goals of sustainability and success.

Re: Ike. He's been in the League 2+ years. He finished out his first year fine once given the chance after a failed experiment with first basemen in April, then suffered a major injury last year. That's it. Don't start with the "never played a full season" garbage unless it's been MULTIPLE injuries, not 1. Otherwise, let's also say that Bryce Harper and Steven Strasburg should be on Washington's trade block since THEY'VE never completed a full season, either.

That's the only thing I wanted to point out in regards to your comment. The rest, I can see.

Lmao these oldie fans are really out of whack aren't they? If you want a Bryce Harper.. you have to lose like 100 games this year. You want that or the other? Fans want to win this year AND get a Bryce Harper. Best of both worlds hah

I'm at the point of believing the Mets are better by subtratcting pieces. Duda, didn';t really impress me, I hope he enjoys Buffalo. Sandy should just cut Bay loose as a sign of goodwill to the fans. Bay stinks, and he will as long as he's here. Ike never played a full season. This winter Snady and his pals need to sit down and wonder if Ike is truly the answer. Torres was an awful addition, I would have prefered Pagan. All said, I don't think the Mets are very far away from being good, but it's time for Sandy to roll up his sleeves and do some hard work.

I cant stand Snooki and she is the type of celebrity the Mets should be distancing themselves from not embracing. I agree with your other stuff to a point. He's building but he is going after pieces in the minor for a run in 2016 or something. He has this extra long range vision and I dont know if he even can think 2013 or 2014. I read here yesterday that we didnt even sign half of our picks. I dont know if that was just someone making stuff up in the comments or if it's true. I dont really follow the draft, but if there is any truth to that but that doesnt sound good at all.

Snooki. Ugh.

I read an article about Snooki getting booed earlier today and SOMEHOW, people are calling Met fans "classless" for "booing a pregnant woman". This is Snooki, dumbasses! The same Snooki who went "Ewwwww" at her own child, so spare me the "classless" BS. Jersey Shore in general is a disgrace! She's a stupid broad who has no business whatsoever for reproducing. She's embarrassing to me to represent the Mets as much as that slob Chris Christie.
