Murphy showed us again why he is a valuable piece to our club. Aside from David Wright he is probably the next best pure hitter we have on the team. Murphy has rebounded from his skid in a very strong way and has shot back over the .300 mark where he seems to make his living in recent years. It appears that his slump was just that, a small bump in the road for the young kid.
Gameday Goods is proud to sponsor this week’s Mets Merized Online Player of the Week, Daniel Murphy. Daniel had a great weekend while going 9 for 11 and improving his average to .306 for the season. Remember to get your Mets Gear at Gameday Goods especially this Mets Snapback.

Trade him
So far this season, Murphy is the most consistent left handed hitter on the Mets. Now lets see what Murph, Ike and Spin do in the remaining games.
Enough of this lefty righty garbage. Murphy is on fire and ive seen him hit lefties plenty of times. Why is he not a regular player anymore? Valdespin should be playing every day not twice a week and just pinch hitting. Also why is Nickeas here!!! is he related to the wilpons or soemthing? What is this the bizzaro world. Why is a .168 hitter still here in late July. He hit .214 last year. Why aren’t more people furious about this. We had Torres Cedeno Bay Nickeas and Hairston in our lineup today. That is disgraceful.
Dan, I wanted to let you know I really appreciate you stepping in for me this week and doing the Player of the Week post. And, while quite a few won’t agree with me, Murph is a big part of this team, and I think he will be for at least a few more years. He doesn’t have the BEST defense at second base, but I have really seen him make strides defensively this year. He has his slumps and hot streaks, but overall he is getting better as a player.
