Mid-Season Mets Minor League All-Star Team
What a great night it was for our prospects in Buffalo and Binghamton who were selected to play in the Triple-A and Double-A All Star games. As you may have already read in today’s MMO Farm Report, we had Matt Harvey, Fernando Cabrera and Valentino Pascucci representing the Bisons, while Eric Campbell, Jefry Marte and Armando Rodriguez repped the B-Mets.
Our Boys didn’t disappoint as they all performed well especially Pascucci who was on base all four times, and of course Eric Campbell whose walk-off single won the game and for his efforts was named the MVP of the 2012 Eastern League All-Star Game. And lets not forget Wilmer Flores who named MVP last month when the FSL held their All Star Game!
Last week, I asked The Incredibles to each submit their own Mets Minor League Mid Season All Stars. It doesn’t include short-season affiliates Brooklyn and Kingsport, but you’ll see them included in our end of season edition.
Here are each writer’s individual choices which includes a complete line-up, three starting pitchers and two relievers. I even asked them to select a Mid-Season MVP and Cy Young.
Check it out and you can click each chart to embiggen them:
I thought it was interesting to note that Matt den Dekker, Eric Campbell, Wilmer Flores and Zack Wheeler were the only players that were selected on each of our eight ballots.
It was great to see Campbell get this kind of recognition and keep in mind these ballots were submitted over a week ago, long before last night’s heroics.
Zack Wheeler was the unanimous choice for Cy Young, with only myself being the dissenting vote. Sorry, but I thought Montero did a heck of a job and Tyler Pill too for that matter who I included as one of my starting pitchers over Matt Harvey.
Wilmer Flores edged out Matt den Dekker 5-3 for MVP honors.
If we were to combine our efforts, the following would be our consensus picks:
2012 Mets Mid-Season All-Stars
1B – Eric Campbell
2B – Wilmer Flores
SS – T.J. Rivera
3B – Aderlin Rodriguez
C – Camden Maron
LF – Cory Vaughn, Fred Lewis (Tied)
CF – Matt den Dekker
RF - Travis Taijeron
SP – Zack Wheeler
SP – Matt Harvey
SP – Rafael Montero
RP – Justin Hampson
RP – Adrian Rosario, Adam Kolarek (Tied)
I hope you enjoyed and had fun this and please feel free to share your thoughts.

Lol, somehow WILMER FLORES needed to be in the list!! as a 2B nonetheless huh???
Good job guys….
You’re missing a left fielder. It could have been the tie breaker.
Nice job though seriously.
Michael Fulmer should’ve gotten more than one mention. His numbers are probably better than anybody except Wheeler, and he’s doing it as a 19 year old in his first full professional season.
