Chris Gimenez was the catcher last night against Buffalo when Spin stole four bases. Earlier this season while catching for the Tampa Bay Rays, Gimeniz successively caught only 3 of 20 runners. In his earlier years in the majors, from 2009 to 2011, Gimeniz was an average performer with guys on base. He isn’t anymore.

I like that Van Dekker is struggling, shows growth. I like it.
I’d like to see Van Dekker continue to get better at Buffalo then compete for the starting CF job next year. I hope the Mets resist the temptation to bring up Van Dekker at signs of his 1st hot streak in Buffalo to replace Andres Torres, Newbie will just have to replace Torres until Van Dekker is truly ready.
You know no reason why Nimo can’t play right field and Van Dekker be our long term Center fielder if he continues to progress. Van Dekker has change the Met future-blueprint I think.

Matz has been unimpressive so far and I hope he can start delivering on some of that promise he was supposed to have soon. As for the Valdespin game, did Reyes ever steal four in a game before? I cant remember anyone ever doing that in the majors or minors for the Mets.

What a performance by Spin! I’d rather have him on this roster and learning CF instead of Torres who does nothing for us. I hope we trade Torres at the trade deadline for a reliever.
