I never liked La Russa. This guy thinks batting the pitcher 8th is revolutionary more than a stupidity. La Russa just can’t get over the fact we slapped his team silly in 2000. I’m tired of this crap though. This team has busted it since day one and our 2 stars of the 2nd half doesn’t get what they deserve for all their hard work. Then why the hell bust your a** if you get only crap in return. It’s a disgrace on La Russas part to not do whats right which is to start Wright and Dickey. Posey can’t catch a knuckleballer so we will choose Cain?!?!? Come on man, Tony just say it how the hell it is and say “look Cain threw a perfect game and Dickey did not and I am still getting therapy from the 2000 NLCS because I am sensitive and I can never take a loss like a man”. Most of us Mets fans got over 2006 because we understand it just wasn’t meant to be but a damn MLB manager can’t??? Screw you La Russa. You damn fool. How the hell do you know Posey can’t catch a knuckleballer? Did you let Dickey and Posey play catch with the knuckleball or practice a game of 25 knuckleballs?? NO! Right? One thing is to say the ugly truth but another is to lie to a mans face and make us out to be fools. Fool I am not La Russa, you damn idiot. Also Wright is top 3 in MVP contention with Andrew and Joey but he is a reserve? A reserve to Sandoval? SANDOVAL?!?!? A guy is nicknamed after a freaking child’s movie? A damn kung fu panda?? This guy can’t even hold Wrights jock strap if Wright were to give it to him. This is BS. Once again, us Mets fans get screwed and we can’t do anything. If this s**t doesn’t fire Dickey and Wright up the a** to tear the NL a new one then idk what would because if it was me I’ll make damn sure I don’t speak about how pissed I am but I will damn right show how pissed I am by dominating the 2nd half if I had the talent of Wright and Dickey. This is exactly why the All star game needs a homerun derby because it’s a week of gimmicks. All star game this year is a gimmick and a joke with a scrub like Sandoval starting (let alone in the All star game), Posey starting instead of Ruiz, Furcal starting instead of Desmond even before Desmond said he isn’t going anymore, Brandon Phillips is not even in the All Star game but Uggla is AND he’s starting, Napoli starting while AJ is having a phenomenal 1st half, Konerko having the best 1st half among all 1B in the AL but Prince gets the start over Konerko and last but sure as hell not least, McCutchen a MVP in his own right because HE CARRIED HIS TEAM TO FIRST PLACE and is on his way to an absolutely monster season gets the damn boot to Melky???? WHAT THE F**K!! SCREW San Francisco Giants and most as hell importantly, SCREW YOU AND F**K YOU LA RUSSA!!! God I really need to get that off me. I never cursed on MMO but i just had to because I am very frustrated.Well have a great day my Mets brothers and sisters. So now we are going into the 2nd half, let’s get ready to raise hell in Citi Field because the New York Metropolitans are going to take the National League East by the throat and kill it!!!! La Russa is scared to start a knuckleballer like everyone else. I’m a huge Mets fan who’s paid close attention to Dickey’s remarkable first half. The guy has been unhittable in all but three starts and certainly earned the right to take the mound for the NL. Who cares who’s behind the plate. Everyone struggles to catch a knuckleball. Just another blow to the Mets and another miracle for the Giants in this years All Star Game after David Wright’s snub.

I think it’s a blessing in disguise. I would much rather have him not start, then start and see him get lit up like he has in 2 of his last 3 starts. After watching the Yankees all-star lineup crush him on national TV, I am worried that he will put up a similar performance against the AL all-stars.

If the Mets can pull off the impossible and get a play in game with the Giants in SF, now that would be awesome to see Dickey and Wright go in there and celebrate in front of those fans…

This almost makes the game not worth watching for me. It’s a big useless bore anyway, but I’d usually tune in just to see how any of our players did. But considering the last three times a knuckleballer made the squad he didnt even get to pitch, it doesnt look like Dickey will even get an inning.

So what then (as Kranepool7 said) is Dickey not going to pitch at all because Posey and Ruiz have never seen a knuckleball? The guy’s 12-1 and second in strikeouts, but won’t be pitching because two ALL-STAR catchers can’t handle his awesome pitch? Imagine throwing Dickey for two innings of a knuckleball and then countering with the hard-throwing Cain, Strasburg and Gio Gonzalez. Even an AL lineup full of sluggers will have trouble with that.

No knock on Cain, whose perfect game this season certainly warrants an All-Star start, but R.A. Dickey has been the feel-good story of the year.

You dont think Matt Cain has been the feel good story of the year on the West Coast especially after signing that huge extension and teammate Tim Lincecum has been floundering leaving him to step up and become the ace much like Dickey has in New York?

Dont get me wrong I love R.A. but he was the feel good story in 2010 when Minaya signed him off the scrap heap and he cam up from the minors and immediately became the best pitcher on the team. He’s a feel good story for the Mets every year since, but as for the rest of the country I dont think so.

Plus with the home field advantage clearly at stake, having Posey who has never seen a knuckleball in his life behind the plate could spell disaster for the NL.
