What a game last night. Games like that will drive one to drink. Hefner pitched better than his line suggests. Cedeno bobbling that possible inning ending double play ball kept Hefner out there longer than he had to. Cedeno did at least score 2 with that double he hit but still that looked like a tailor made DP to end the inning and you have to make those plays.

Parnell comes in and makes a 2 run lead 1 and Collins makes the best move of the 2nd half. Has Edgin who has been pitching pretty impressively since being called up come in to replace Parnell. Edgin gets what should of been the 2nd out with the runner still on 3rd but Ike who 9 times out of 10 catches that ball totally missed it as it went down the line for a double. Can’t say Edgin would of held on to the game for the win had Ike made the play for the final out but would of liked our odds.

Then the best thing Collins did in my opinion was let the kid work out of a bases loaded situation and the kid came through.

Hairston with a huge 2 HR game puts the Mets back on top and here comes Acosta walking the tying runs on base. I know what Collins said he told Acosta when he went to the mound but I want to believe Acosta heard something like “Listen you S.O.B. we retake the lead and the 1 thing we said from Day 1 is throw strikes and you come in and walk the tying runs? You better find that 2nd half mojo of yours and Throw Strikes!”

End result: Mets win

Harvey on the hill 2nite can’t wait to watch.

We have enough back up outfielders and “serviceable” pitchers, thank you very much.

To be a legit playoff contender for 2012, the Mets at the very least need:

A full time OF. Not a 4th OF having a good year or some kid learning the spot. A real, legit OF that bats righty or switch hits. A CF is preferable, but if you can get a decent fielding righty with pop for a corner, I’ll take that instead.

2 bullpen arms. At least

A #3 at minimum starter. Hefner is a good fill in guy, but if we’re going to deal with Harvey’s growing pains and the nebulous health status of Young and Santana, we need some help in the rotation. The problem is, a guy like that won’t come cheap in terms of trade value.

Ranch seems to have righted his ship, however he hasn’t seen the 9th. Maybe time for a role reversal with Parnell who seems to overthrow when the pressure is on.

Other teams make moves the Mets sleep and their brain dead kool aide drinking puppets will respond with “Did you want us to give up Wheeler for these guys” actually beleiving the BS that that is the only way the Mets could make a move and beleiving that 99% of the turned off fan base will beleive the lies forever…..

Gary, sometimes when a player struggles on offense his defense takes a backseat because he’s so focus on his offensive game… it happens.. about parnell, i too am very disappointed in him, it’s a shame, the kid ha some good stuff, with that being said, some players thrive in certain roles, not so much in others, he was doing fine as our 7th inning guy last year, and was put in a position to fail after krod was traded. it is what it is though, i don’t like to make excuses, let alone make excuses for millionaires ball players.. If they suck, they suck…

Neither team wanted to win that game last night. Each kept handing it to the other, and it kept getting handed right back.

Even the hometown scorer sucked last night. 1 error on the board? I lost count of how many actual errors there were in that game last night – along with the mental mistakes on our part.

Hairston doing what Hairston does best last night. If they trade him today, I’m gonna miss him.

Hefner deserved better.
Acosta still sux.
Parnell should never ever see the 9th inning again.
Edgin has stones and some nasty stuff.

Seven strikeouts for Ike in last 2 games since 3 homer game.Looks like Arizona was teeing the ball up so Ike could look good in front of friends and family in Arizona.He has become a Kingman type of hitter.Home run or strikeout.Not much in between.Plus his defense has fallen off a cliff.Last night he froze on an easy 4-6-3 DP ball and missed a ground ball in the ninth.Next year will be a big year for Ike as to his future in the bigs.Like Alex said, no point in talking about the bullpen anymore.I would love to hear Parnell gets traded.He is a poison in the 9th and we keep bringing him in.PLEASE FIND A WAY TO GET RID OF HIM!!!!!

Here is the difference between the front office of the Mets and other teams. The Braves get a solid outfielder and bench player from the Cubs in Reed Johsnon and a very serviceable pitcher in Paul Maholm from the Cubs (1.02 era). Did they have to give up oh let’s say one of their better pitchers like Minor or a solid outfielder like Matt Diaz. Heck no they gave up a promisinf minor leaguer in Vizcaino reovering from Tommy John surgery. The Braves may have just guaranteed a playoff spot with the same payroll as the Mets. Are we so stupid we are incapable of making such a move. I could make this happen and that isn’t saying much.

It’s good to see Scott Harriston doing well!
I think it’s time we jettison Bobby Parnell and his oh so sexy 95+ fastball..sick of hearing abut it!
What will a package deal of Harriston, Parnell and Murphy give us?
