AS FAR AS I CAN DETERMINE OF THE 11-12 PITCHERS NEEDED TO CONSTRUCT A STAFF FOR NEXT YR I CAN TRULY ONLY IDENTIFY 8 FOR EXAMPLE MY BEST GUESS WOULD PUT SANTANA.DICKEY,NIESE, GEE, HARVEY IN THE ROTATION WITH FRANCISCO, PARNELL, EDGIN MILLING ABOUT THE BULLPEN CERTAINLY THEY’LL REQUIRE A “BREAK GLASS IN EMERGENCY” OPTION IN BUFFALO JUST AS HARVEY FILLED THAT ROLE THIS SEASON.

FOR 2013 THAT ROLE SHOULD BELONG TO WHEELER. IF NOT, WHY IS HE BEING PROTECTED AS ALDERSON SHIELDS HIM FROM DEAL CONSIDERATION. HE’S EITHER THE NEXT GREAT PROMOTION OR THE NEXT BIG CHIP IN A BLOCKBUSTER TRADE. 1 MEDIOCRE MINOR LEAGUE SEASON SHOULD NOT ALTER HIS OVERALL CONSIDERATION. MAYBE HE’S BORED IN AA & WILL FLOURISH IN AAA’s CHALLENGE. U’;LL NEVER KNOW BY STIFLING HIS GROWTH. NOT EVERYONE WALKS STEADILY BEFORE THEY RUN SWIFTLY SOME RELY ON THEIR MOMENTUM FOR BALANCE.

WHAT DO U LOSE BY PROMOTING HIM. HIS CONFIDENCE IF HE FAILS @ AAA; DON’T LOOK NOW; BUT IF THAT’S IN HIS FUTURE THE MAJORS LIKELY ARE NOT WE DO NOT NEED ANOTHER HEILMAN OR PELFREY; BEEN THERE, DONE THAT. LET’S SEE WHAT HE’S GOT IN AAA. TOO LITTLE TRADE HIM B4 MAKOR LEAGUE EXPOSURE DESTROYS HIS VALUE TOTALLY.

Well, as of late he’s been getting BOMBARDED while in double A.. so… No need to rush in promotions to triple A for him to struggle more and shattered his confidence…

I agree with Dave’s reasoning, but more importantly if they didnt consider Wheeler ready, where do they get off promoting Germen? That makes no sense at all.

I would still promote wheeler because he already proved he was ready and I think his slump is because he thinks he belongs in buffalo like everyone else, some believe he major league ready. And if the mets did not promote him because of his recent slump the gonzalez guy didn’t make it out the 1 innings

Harvey last 5 starts in bingo he was lights out that’s why he got the promotion.
