Defense affects them. The whole point is trying to eliminate events outside of the pitcher’s control and see what exactly he’s doing to help his team.

No, the writers are catching up with the times and see how useless a pitcher’s W-L record is in evaluating him. (see 2010 Felix Hernandez). They are still hung up on ERA, but I applaud any progress.

If Dickey is putting his team into a position to win his starts better than any other pitcher in the league, he should be Cy Young, regardless of the final result of said starts.

What might hurt RA’s Cy Young award is the fact we seem to be giving up on the guys who were behind him and he may not always get the run support he got yesterday.

Where would we be if we did trade Murphy away?

Well, the goal against SF has to be 3/4. Recall how they shamed us at home in APril or May.
I hope we go into PacBell with a little attitude!

However, I agree that it’s utter failure if we don’t split.

Right now a split on the road is great considering how poorly our record has been since the start of the 2nd half.

It’s great to see Dickey pitch like he did earlier this season. Also say what you will about Torres but despite a 6 game stretch that saw him go 0 for 14 right now for the month of July he is hitting .293/BA with a .388/OBP and 10 runs scored.

It’s all about getting back to .500 for me. They are 4 below with 4 games vs the Giants up next. Need to try and do no worse than a split but obviously going on a run and sweeping is always preferred.

Amusing the hear the Arizona broadcasters the last two night hinting at possibly winning game by getting into BP, well as they, the BP, has been a mystery to us it was a mystery to them and we won today.
Despite how Mets finish I feel that RA, as long as he continues to put up wins, WHIP, K’s and ERA+ then why not for Cy Young in NL?
