I like the way he came after the D-Back hitters especially the power guys and didn’t try to pitch on the corners, like Batista, so hopefully Niese takes a hint from the Harvey approach tonight.

What impressed me most was his poise, pitch selection and execution and the absolute explosiveness of his fastball. His secondary pitches are well-developed. He has the make-up of an ace. He has the ability, mindset and stuff to bear down in difficult situations, which is a mentality that you really can’t teach.

A performance like this can reverberate throughout the entire organization and should provide the proper example and incentive to those toiling and plying their trade in the minors.

Very smart of Met Brass to bring up Rob Johnson along with Harvey. It has occurred to me that Johnson might’ve been held down in AAA to develop Harvey & others while the lesser Nickeas rode shotgun to Thole in the majors. Johnson did a great job tonight working with Harvey & Edgin. Very happy to see the rookies contribute substantially to this Met victory. Portends good things to come.

He saved his best for the big leagues. His stuff was far better tonight than any of his minor league starts I saw this year totalling around 9 of them. Congrats to the kid and hopefully the first of many more dominant starts in a Met uniform. And I think we may have found our RH bat. The guy who pitched tonight. 2 hits to go along with a great MLB debut. And Edgin is starting to get comfortable in the big leagues. Hope we continue to see that.
