Harvey is probably ready (as long as he keeps using his change up) and a lot better than walk-’em-all Batista.

Promote Wheeler to Buffalo and let’s see him get AAA hitters out, using all his pitches and showing control. Then re-evaluate.

“A dozen or more Mets officials who will all be on hand”… Why not put some pressure on the guy? Does it really take a dozen evaluators to figure this out? Seems like overkill to me. Shouldn’t they be able to arrive at a decision based on 2 or 3 sets of key eyeballs? What good are all these evaluators if you can’t trust their opinion and need an army of them to support a decision? If Harvey’s record to date is not enough to support promotion to the ML, then he’s not ready. Is one more game so critical that it can make a difference in the decision and require a busload of evaluators? And making such a decision on the basis of one additional game seems like small sample size decision making to me. In my opinion, something is wrong with the decision making process, if this is how it’s done.

Collins says Wheeler a possibility for a promotion in August…

The manager added that while it’s not in the consideration set for Zack Wheeler to face Los Angeles next weekend, he very much should be on the radar next month for a promotion to the majors.

“He’s not out of the mix,” Collins said about Wheeler. “I’m going to tell you something: Right now, in our organization, if you’ve got talent, and you show that you can get people out, your name is going to be on that list.”
