Good post Alan. I agree with just about everything except I don’t see it possible for this team to win 90 games. I think if we win 82-84 games we’ve had a heck of a season considering how bad the bullpen and the defense has been and Davis and Duda having reality checks, among other things as well.

One thing that concerns me is if we’re supposed to be building with youth then why did we let half of our daft picks go unsigned. That’s not how you rebuild from within. That narrows your chances of building a deep farm system. It means you have to be right on most of the ones you did sign and that’s almost impossible. After a nice draft last year, to follow it up this year with losing half our picks this year is disheartening.

I hate to disagree with you Alex after you liked my last comments with concern to Jose Reyes but your take on the lack of activity by the front office since the team began to struggle is out of line with the direction that the team has been headed to since Sandy A took over. I have said this over and over…..there will no longer be the quick fix to try and make the team better with the hope (and prayer) that they might be a contender for the playoffs. Those kind of moves saddled the team with bad contracts and players who had seen their prime pass them by!

Sandy knows that we still have a few holes to fill. He also knows that the struggles of Duda and Davis this year are not uncommon with young players. Too many fans counted on 50 or more homers from these two guys, 150-180 RBI’s and .275 batting averages. Ike has come on lately and will get his 25 homers and 85 RBI’s but he was a total albatross to the team in the first half. Part of what the future holds for this team came though nicely last night with Matt Harvey. He too will have his struggles but he is the real deal if he stays healthy!

The team has been resilient all year and I believe will finish with 85-90 wins if they can stay healthy. Despite his up and down first half, Frank Francisco is going to help the bullpen once he gets back.

Sandy Alderson was hired to do exactly what he has done and that is to rebuild this organization with youth and solid citizens which is why we enjoyed watching this team the first half. They play hard…never quit and they follow their manager’s lead!

BTW…Sandy will be the GM here for as long as he wants! GET USED TO THAT

Blaming the Wilpons, manipulating stats to try and make the Bullpen look good, Blaming Omar or something that happened 20 years ago for Sandy’s inability to get a single player worth a damn for the MLB team!

Bingo, it amazes me how many go out searching for dang conspiracy theories. I guess as a history major I shouldn’t be that surprised. I think Wilpon knew about Pearl Harbor and Sandy was behind the grassy knoll.

Are kidding me? “But what this team needed didn’t cost a lot of money” Goback to when Sandy got here. All we needed was a first baseman 2nd basemen 3 starting out fielders a starting catcher 4 starting pitchers and an entire bullpen. Ya that would have been cheap.

Look, we all came into this season knowing we’d be awful. Sure, we hoped for the best but we knew even finishing .500 would be a major accomplishment. The team played well, seemed to gel and we hung in there for the 1st half.
We all were starting to hope that maybe, just maybe….

But now the truel colors have come out. The team overachieved for the 1st half and played over their head.

I dont blame Collins as all. He was dealt a crappy hand. What else can he do or say?

I won’t believe in real “changes” until Warthen is shown the door. Everyone here has said that the staff is the worst they ever seen. Actually I’m certain you wanted to be right. If we werent you couldnt bitch. Ive tried for months now to understand your logic with this team but it doesn’t make any sense. The team has been bad 21 out of 26 years since winning the WS. Yet you want the FO office to continue operating the same way. Yes I’m an admitted Alderson fan. You know why? Because he is taking a different approach and he is sticking to it. Maybe we should be buyers right now but please explain to me how Another Bonilla, Bay, or Vaughn is betterthen giving Kirk or Valdespin another year or two. Is having a few guys in our farm system really that bad? Is dumping 3-5 guys who might be good for a long time for another 35 year old who might be good for half a season and is going to kill the salary cap for years to come really a good idea? Please tell me how repeating FO office mistakes over and over us better then admitting you made mistakes and trying to fix it.

Sandy didn’t quit his MLB position just because he wanted to be a GM again. He was told to by Bud Selig to keep another franchise (owned by his main sycophant Freddy Wilpon) from going bankrupt. That’s the real reason for this fiasco – there is still NO MONEY! Freddy can bring in money now from his real estate business – but there’s NO MONEY there either, not if he wants to retire in the lifestyle he has become accustomed to. 2006 came to us courtesy of the false earnings made by Bernie Madoff. Now, we’re in the hole for approximately $350 million over 3 years. Nothing good will happen for this team will happen before 2016 unless it comes out of the farm system. Watch and see.

I actually had a post held “awaiting moderation” over there – no obscenity, just coming down on Sandy and our “beloved” owners over not getting us a little help. I just wanted a reliever or a bat for our boys so they wouldn’t feel abandoned by the FO. Now, I think the worst of the nay-sayers are right about Terry – he’s going to be the sacrificial lamb for this fiasco. Like he could win by bringing up the whole Buffalo team!

Funny but the only fans who seem to be jumping off the ledge are the same ones who thought Sandy was doing a good job and they jumped off the ledge at the same time the GM did!

as I always said about the apologists, they are just Lemmings following Sandy off the ledge!
Hell you even have Jessup blowing himself up to save Sandy once a week!
