I don't see how anyone can say Rauch is not as bad as people make him out to be...
Truth is he is a righty specialist in the same way Byrdak is a lefty specialist.

he is good against Righties (.206 BAA, .247 OBP, .352 SLG)
But horrible vs lefties (.278 BAA, .310 OBP, .444 SLG)

And he is just awful in high leverage situations. with a .314 BAA, .341 OBP, .561 SLG. He's not walking those guys they are hitting him as proved by his BAA being the same as his OBP!

As for Mejia it's a big question mark really.
Everyone in the organization seems to REALLY want him to be a reliever but he hasn't been all that good at it when he has been put there.
Perhaps he can't get the feel for his pitches fast enough to be a good reliever some pitcher take an inning or two before they get thier control. Those guys are best served as starters not Bullpen.

I think the Mets need at least three relievers to make their bullpen good. Odds are at least one is going to be a failure...

I also don't think Mejia should be in the bullpen.

well, beato is already up to fill one spot.

I agree that Batista should be on thin ice. But, don't be so sure Ramirez is a lock if he does not improve, and soon.

I also agree that there will be at least 1 guy brought in that can pitch at the back end.

but mejia? Does not look close to ready for any ML duty. I don't think you will see him up this year, certainly not to pitch meaningful innings.
