He is doing even more than that!

He not only is locating it he seems to be able to get it to break one way or another as we saw last night against two LHH….
It would start out middle in over the plate and then break down and just outside of the inside of the plate!
He has shown the ability to slide the pitch the other way as well.

He is doing what no one has ever done before, locating a pitch whose sole usefulness was it’s unpredictability!
You can’t locate a ball if you have no idea where it is going…
Dickey seems to know where it is going!

so to answer your original question…NO! NO one has had the command Dickey has been showing!

Has there ever been a knuckleballer who had command like Dickey does? Most of them just throw it up there and hope the batter chases it. It is more about novelty than effectiveness.

Dickey actually throws it hard and can hit the corners with it on purpose.

He’s been on fire… The man is just untouchable… now, about that extension, isn’t he a nice guy? The mets hold his option for next year no? we can’t possibly be thinking that right now, because that’ll mean he’s playing this great because he’s thinking contract exxtension? and he’s a nice guy, no way he’s thinking to get paid…

Ed, thanks so much for putting this together. Great Copy. I have been thinking about this for over a week, but was way too lazy to actually look back at stats. I remembered how great Seaver had been during the home stretch of the ’73 season, and, of course, the phenomenal Doc in ’84.

Every Doc start in that late summer of ’84 was just an absolute event. Dickey’s performances have reached the same level. I had to miss the entire game last night, and it feels tragic.

Not missing the next one.
