Interesting. Eddie admitted money was a large part of it–and he was making what? $20,000 per year. Nowadays, guys sign for $18 million…but never admit it’s about the money.

One of the guys who always has typefied the Mets. Not overly talented, not gifted, mediocre at best–but he tried his best.

Nice! Kranepool was a classy guy and never came close to meeting all those lofty expectations, but nobody could ever accuse him of dogging it or not giving it his level best. My greatest memories are his later years when he became our top pinch hitter.

He is probably the only original met that ever had a decent performance as a met! Most of the rest of them were done by the time they got to us.
