My thoughts and best wishes go out to Jason Bay. He apparently got his bell rung yet he still had the presence of mind to retrieve the ball and throw it back to the cutoff man. He goes all out defensively and has not let some offensive woes affect his defensive efforts.

Shame on the jerks who booed him while he was walking off the field. It seems that the Phillies ballpark is not the only locale where poor behavior is shown towards the home team.

Quite an embarrassing week to be a Mets fan. I don't care how much you hate a player, when he wears the uniform with your team across his chest and clearly is hurt badly while going all out to make a play you don't boo him.

Watching the replay of him coming off the field was down right scarey. How he stayed on his feet is beyond me.

Between this and the twitter BS with Rauch, it's disgusting. Sad that people can't decipher between a baseball and real life.

Gee didn't have it from the get go - too many balls up in the zone. Defense behind him didn't help much either.

Anyone at Citi last night booing Bay needs to get their priorities straight. Something wrong with those people. And Kudos for Rauch taking those Met fans to task on Twitter while standing up for his teammate.

'Very disappointed with the fans who booed Jason Bay as he came off the field. This is a serious injury that affects his livelihood and his well being. He plays his heart out every time he takes the field. It's very unfortunate that he's had to deal with multiple concussions and other injuries - we all have him and his family in our thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery.'

Well it did feel that way Jersey when Bay hit the wall and a inside the park HR resulted, it seemed like Arroyo, who with all his lollipop pitches, just befuddled Mets and he has done this to Mets in past and with the young kids that hadn't faced him it was tough cause he is very deceptive for a junk ball pitcher.

Too bad about Jason, here he hits a HR in Tampa and maybe his RH bat can add some balance to lineup and this happens, get well soon Jason.

Anyway, apart from Bay's injury where is the balance going to come from in this LH heavy lineup apart from David and I don't trust Hairston in OF cause he tends to have problems out there plus his bat is needed on bench.

Another game where BP comes in and allows runs, how many is that now, wow couldn't Gee have gone another inning, he retired his last 10 batters TC? Just asking.

JayBay has been under perpetual cloud since coming to New York. So strange. When Reyes and Beltran would get injured, we were so concerned about holding the fort until they returned. When Bay gets injured, we seem more concerned about making as much progress developing his replacements before he gets back. So strange...

Murphy seems lost - at bat, his timing is off, on the basepath and in the field, he appears slow. He is not hitting with any appreciable power. Not good. Really.

In the plus column, Kirk is providing daily evidence of his overall baseball prowess and Ike really appears to be awakening. His individual at-bats seem much better - he's reading the ball better pitch-by-pitch. He's by no means near fulfilling his capability, but he's moving in that direction.

Turner will be a much welcomed addition to our active roster.

An inside the park HR? Sigh

Don't wish anyone ill so I hope Bay recovers fine from his bout with the wall. Having said that it seems like Bay just always is having some injury after hitting a wall. The 1st thing I though after the injury was see you next season Jason Bay. Waiting to hear how bad it is. After watching the replay like 4 times he really is lucky to walk away from that seeing how his neck went into the wall.

As far as the game it felt like it was over almost as soon as it started. Which has not been a typical feeling this season with this club. Hat tip to Capt Kirk. The kid is hitting some serious shots. Once again Hairston as well with a HR. Joe D said it a few posts ago. Have to give credit for staying with Hairston and bringing him back.

All that is left is to try and come back and win 2morrow.
