This is a man that some thought would never pitch again
Same man that if he did pitch again, would never be the same again.

I was watching my 8 year old niece, 5 and 4 year old nephews and we were watching the Leave it to Beaver movie, and I was following along on my blackberry, after the 8th, I told them we needed to turn the movie off and we were about to watch something very special. The good kids they are (or just being raised properly) were good with this, and I explained what was happening.

Well I instinctively screamed and burst into tears (Yeah, I’m a girl I admit I’m not afraid), the boys were jumping up and down yelling “WE DID IT, WE DID IT” (a little reminiscent of myself in 1969 when I was cheering Lets go Mets with my Dad when I was 4 years old)

I had taped the game last night, I don’t normally tape games, for some reason………we watched a bit of the post game festivities, but it was kinda late knowing I have it taping I told the kids I’d put the movie back on and thanked them and told they just saw something special. Out of the mouths of babes, the 5 year old said “That’s ok, that’s why we love you and we all love the good guys in blue”

My phone rang in the top of the 9th with one out, my cousin in St. Louis who is a die hard Cards fan, I ignored the call………………….at that time lol

Johan showed all what we got when he signed with Mets and I am praying that his next start is as electric as this one, back to back no hitters maybe!

Wow, Joe D you have put in words what I felt last night, it was surreal as I am watching, seeing what is unfolding yet waiting, as one put it, the Jimmy Qualls moment but I guess Baxter’s catch was the one tense moment and he laid it on the line for Johan and Mets.

To those many detractors yes the ump blew a call but how many times in games of this magnitude to you ever get a “clean” game called by umps, who are just human.
This is why I like baseball so much, 27 outs, 9 innings, 3 strikes to get out, 3 outs to end an inning, you don’t get this beauty in other sports that are driven by adrenaline, touchdown, dunk, 3 pointer.

Yes the ump blew the call but fate, as you put it JoeD, had a hand in this game and no one, no one can take this away from us and now the heavy load being carried by this organization in not having a no hitter despite the many quality pitchers that have worn a Met uniform has been removed.

Not sure how the rest of the season will play out, but it just feels like they’ve turned the corner from the 5 year funk. Plus, with all the talent in the farm system, it feels like we’re witnessing the beginning of something good. Very good.

I think the fact that most of these kids came up together, there’s a certain chemistry with this team that is infectious. Also, I love how gritty this team is. Even that Philly game on Wednesday, when the bullpen imploded, we go out and get 3 in the bottom of the 9th.

This team fights until the end.

We get our first no-hitter.

We did it against the Cardinals…
…with Wainwright pitching…
…with Yadier hitting what appeared to be another heart-breaker…
…Beltran being a factor…

Maybe the dark cloud that’s been hanging over this team since 2006 is starting to clear.
