I did say this current stretch was going to be the most important stretch for this team and show us if they have what it takes to truly be a contender…

Taking 3 of 4 from the Cards was a very good start but it took a no Hitter to get that.
And As much as I love having that No No in my pocket it did seem to have an ill affect on the Nats series.

We would all be talking a very different game right now if Santana had pitched on his normal rest and faced the Nats where we could very likely have taken two of three if we were not forced to pitch both Young and Hefner in the first two games of that series.

It would not have helped the Yankee series much but then again maybe the first game goes differently then too.

it’s clear that we have the starting pitching to match anyone, But as long as that Pen is giving away runs like they are free we could wind up with another Season Over scenario like everyone thought we had last year!

Speaking of which I wonder how many here feel Philly’s season is over now that they are 8.0 games out with 5-7 teams ahead of them in the Wilcard race?
And that they should start a firesale because they clearly have no chance at the playoffs…Game Over for them?

Driving into work today, a thought the same thing, this is a huge test for Terry. The starting pitching has been spot on, but the Mets are struggling offensively, defensively and in the bullpen. Now is the time for to see how Terry and his troops get through this. Somebody other than Wright needs to start hitting, and someone needs to step up and lead this bullpen. Big, big games coming up the newxt couple of weeks.

Damndest thing? In the last 10 games of this brutal stretch, they have still gained ground on Miami and Philly! So not the only team scuffling a bit right now.

still, they need to make bay go away. That move alone should revitalize the team.
