I believe he is serving his suspension starting now.

Edison Volquez served his 50-game suspension on the DL recovering from Tommy John Surgery I believe.

Paulino started last season on the DL and had to wait until being reactivated until starting his suspension

From what I read, he’s starting this suspension immediately. Which means he’ll serve it during his DL stint. They’re not even sure how serious that back problem for him is right now – speculating it might cost him the rest of the season. So he could potentially be done with the suspension before he’s off the DL.
