Yep Tyler while David unquestionably had a good month for the first three weeks the last week he has not been all that good.

Dickey definitly deserves the nod this month.
Not only has he won but he has gone deep and that only helped a Bullpen that was playing through a 20 game stretch without a day off, Kept blowing itself up and forcing an even higher workload than they should have had and those days Dickey pitched they could at least catch their breath!

If it’s not the plan, why wouldn’t they extend him like the Nats did with Zimmerman.My point is they waited and waited on Reyes till he was gone and got nothing in return.They did the right thing with Beltran and got Wheeler back..Now they are doing the same with Wright.I just hope we don’t get nothing in return again if Wright walks.

Right, on a blog post you have to leave something out and runs and innings are more important to this because of the small sample.

Bayonne: You realize he did provide us with Earned Runs and Innings Pitched right?

I’m not sure why you have to knock Tyler’s piece simply because you don’t know how to calculate ERA?

ERA on it’s own is less telling than actually seeing how many innings and earned runs a pitcher gives up in a week/month.

Batista’s ERA is better than Dickey’s. But if you actually look, Dickey threw twice as many innings which makes his performance more impressive.

They don’t have to look it up. He provided what is needed to determine it. Besides if you look at ERA without innings or runs listed then it’s meaningless on a small scale.

I have never been a fan of Scott Hairston, but he actually has more RBIs than A-Rod. Not sure what his salary is, but I suspect he’s a few dollars cheaper.
He’s even turned me around.
Side note – are the Met’s the Tallest team in baseball? They have a lot of really big guys. (Soon to add Chris Young too.) Maybe they should try their hand at basketball in stead.

The author did not provide ERA and it’s not incumbent upon the reader to look it up – it’s one of the most common stats for a pitcher, you see ERA everywhere.

I have never understood why they do innings mathematically wrong? Just to confuse people or to try to make it simple for those who don’t understand fractions? LOL

Multiply the earned runs by 9 and divide that by the innings pitched. If the innings are for example 27.1 you change it to 27.33 if it’s 27.2 you change it to 27.67 then divide. Batista is 1.59/ERA and Dickey is 1.84/ERA I believe.

When is the last time any Mets pitcher went 4-0 in a month? I would have given it to R.A. Dickey. Also a suggestion, I wish you could have ERA in there for pitchers. Maybe you could ditch either runs or earned runs, but leaving out ERA which is the most common pitching stat in baseball seems like a cardinal sin to me.

If and when DW’s average falls below .300 this year (hopefully not) we will hear from Freddie Wilponzi saying “see, i told everybody he’s no superstar”.Looks like the plan is to wait for him to get injured or go oh for 80, dump on him and trade him.
