No what they considered was they were going to face two LHSPs (Pettitte and Sabathia) in three games and without Bay in there had a shortage of RHBs to face them.

Thats why Cedeno was put on the roster in favor of losing a Bullpen arm which is not much different than losing a Cancer Tumor if you ask me!
Not that Ramirez is that bad a player (Just young and inexperienced) but with a 9.0 ERA he sure wasn’t much of a help!

It makes a ton more sense to send him down for this series and decide who to bring up (Mejia or Beato) and send down.

They have an issue in that Quintanilla has to go through waivers and likely will get claimed so they are going to wait until Tejada is back to make a decision on him. Most likely Cedeno goes down then. That means the most likely candidates are Hefner and Valdespin being sent down until after the All Star Break. That is unless Francisco goes on the DL.
