It’s not that they are streaky Everything you need to know about this team is in the Win Loss Records of the Pitchers!

Dillon Gee 5-5 15 Games .500 5 Games decided by pen
Santana 5-4 15 Games .556 (one no hitter over .500) 6 games decided by Pen
Niese 5-3 14 Games .625 (Two games over .500) 6 Games decided by Pen
Young 1-1 4 Games .500 2 Games decided by Pen (Half his games)
Dickey 11-1 14 Games .917 2 Games decided by Pen.

We should be 13 games over .500 not just 4 games. And those records should be higher Why is that?

Look no further than the relievers who have a combined record of 10-17

Why are we losing so many games in a row?

Dickey didn’t win and stop the losing streak! He is the guy who has avoided using the BullPen.

Santana did it for two games one being a no hitter.

The Backend Rotation is pitching a bit better than .500 baseball but it would be more if they too avoided the pen. That Bullpen we all lament has hurt the backend of the rotation the most.and all this great Pitching by Dickey has been offset by the bad pitching of the pen.

Considering their recent swept,sweep,swept,sweep streaking is very fitting. I try at time to look at the season in groups of series the smallest group being a 3 game series. If the Mets can just win the majority of their series then they should be in it throughout the rest of the season. Win your homestands win your roadtrips etc etc. Back when the Mets started out their 25 game stretch vs what was a tough part of their schedule many wondered if it would be what would break them at the other end of it. They finished going 12-13. Now the next challenge is to see if they can maintain themselves relevant up to the ASG. A loss tonight would tie their longest losing streak of the season at 4.

The way I see it they held their own against the .500+ teams in June and it could have been a bloodbath. We played .500 against them but equally as important is they played .500 against us and expected to kick our butts. We proved we belong. If Alderson can get this team the late game reliever and right handed bat we need, we’re going to the post season. Dickey and Santana are a solid 1-2 and Niese, Young and Gee have stepped up. Lots of season left.
