Mets Activate Bay, Add Beato to 40, DFA Satin and Place Young On Paternity Leave

The Mets have announced that left fielder Jason Bay has been activated from the 15-day disabled list and reliever Pedro Beato from the 60-day disabled list.
To make room for Jason Bay on the roster, the Mets have placed pitcher Chris Young on paternity leave. Meanwhile, the Mets designated Josh Satin for assignment to clear a spot for Pedro Beato.
So in the last 24 hours, the Mets have designated Jack Egbert and Josh Satin. Both of them must now pass through waivers and I have a strong feeling that Egbert will most likely get claimed… Satin, not so much…
The Young thing buys them a couple of days before deciding which position player gets the ax…

Yup, how long can Young be out? Until his next start or is there a limit?
I am a little concerned about activating Beato before they had to. I would have brought up Hampson for now and then Beato when you send Heffy down.
According to my quickie internet research, MLB paternity leave is up to 3 days.
Re Hampson, the problem is that then they’d risk losing him for no reason as he’d have to be DFA’d. No point in doing that for 3 days. They already are going through that with Egbert.
Beato is going straight to the pen…So I don’t see how there isn’t someone they can send down from that lot.
I have a question maybe someone can answer…
What did Bay hit during his rehab?
Cause if it wasn’t .above .270 he should have stayed down there until there was a good enough reason to have him here.
I only saw numbers on about 4 games Bay played in down there. He could have played more, just saying I didn’t see that.
Hard to get a gauge on where he’s at with such a small sample size, if that’s all it really was.
Thanks Srt,
I guess it’s moot as he is being brought up and we will see if he hits.
man, they really need to stop having guys get hurt so close together. Just let the roster stabilize into something that makes sense.
and having your starters starting would be nice too!
but, if nothing else, they are getting a head start on the fall 40 man roster clean up process!
Beato could be here just for a few days to make sure Bullpen gets some rest after last night.
Bay could be here until he gets hurt again. (sorry, I figured someone would say it).
You beat me to the punch!!
Time to send Ike shuffling off to Buffalo until he gets his act together.
