Johan Santana and the Mets made history last night. Honestly, since the last out of last night’s game thinking of baseball has been surreal. I’m positive no fan base ever has or ever will celebrate a regular season no-hitter like the Mets and Mets fans did last night. Anyway, Dickey is charged with following up Johan Santana’s performance as he takes on the Cardinals in this afternoon’s game. The Cardinals will be sending out Lance Lynn to try to quiet the Mets bats.

Dickey is 7-1 on the season with a 3.06 ERA over 64.2 innings of work. In the month of May Dickey made 5 starts with a 4-0 record over 34.0 innings of work and a 1.83 ERA. Last season he faced the Cardinals once going 6.1 innings allowing 8 hits and 4 earned runs. The Cardinals have the following numbers on R.A. Dickey:

Beltran 4-14, HR
Holliday 3-6, 2B
Molina 1-4
Freese 0-3

Lance Lynn is 8-1 this season with a 2.54 ERA over 63.2 innings of work. In his last four starts he is 2-1 over 25.0 innings of work with an ERA of 4.32. Lance has a very limited history against the Mets, last season he faced the Mets for 1.2 innings allowing 1 ER. The Mets have the following numbers against Lynn:

Torres 1-3
Duda 0-1
Murphy 0-1

  • Has any team ever thrown consecutive no hitters bqack to back?

That (while a pipe dream I know) Would just be icing on the cake wouldn’t it?
Sure would be key to getting Dickey into the All Star game too!
I bet last night get Santana there…

  • I posted this elsewhere on the site last night. As much as I I am a Johan fan, it would have been incredibly sweet if R.A. had been the one to toss the first no-no. Back-to-back ones – though the chances are slim – would ease that ever-so-slight disappointment.

  • What a tough act to follow for R.A. today. Speaking of tough, anyone read that Elvin Ramirez is going on the DL because he injured himself during the Santana celebration? Unbelievable!

    • Nevermind! Now they said it was RAMON Ramirez who got hurt and will go on the DL. Way to get your Ramirezes mixed up, Joel Sherman.

      • LOL From Bad News to Good?
Definitly the ramirez I don’t mind losing!

        • Eh, the way Met players have performed after coming off the DL, I wouldn’t be shocked if Ramirez does a 180 upon returning.

          • Maybe…But only if he gets sent down to rehab in the Minors because they appear to be doing miracles down there in preparing people for the MLB.
