We all crowed that the Yanks would have a different time in Citi–away from their bandbox. Guys like Cano make that laughable. What did they hit, like seven or eight homers at Citi?

Yes, the Mets don’t have a problem getting hits; we’re a good hitting team, but there’s little in the way of constant deep-threat guys. Duda could be it, but he’s not quite there, and same for Ike. We need an Adam Dunn type. Having a Beltran and Delgado in the same lineup…now those were threats!

Morning after a loss to the Yankees and the world is still here Hallelujah.

Rough outing for Dickey who after a week of hyping up his next outing vs Sabathia turns out neither pitcher make it past 6 innings. In the end their pen was way better than ours. The Mets pen gave up 4 runs in this series and the Yankee pen gave up 1.

Mets still down 5-1 found a way to get back in the game vs Sabathia and tied it taking Dickey off the hook for the loss. Torres and Tejada with some big hits in doing so.

Collins admitted after the game that he should of went to Byrdak vs Cano so he acknowledged his mistake and the Mets having heard him say all weekend about holding back his “only” lefty in the pen for the right time finally called up a 2nd lefty for Collins in Hampson. Now all remains is for Hampson to pitch better than having to use Batista in that situation.

Hopefully a trip to Chicago will help with the extra base hits which were non existent last night for the Mets.

The last 6 games vs the Skankees proved how much easier it is to score runs with one swing of the bat versus needing 3 hits to score one run.SA needs to add more power to lineup or add some speed so we can pressure the defense and score from second on one of our many singles thru the infield.Still have to give the players a lot of credit for coming back so often.Having a few more guys who could hit a 3 run bomb now and than would help.I don’t expect much to change this year with the Wilponzis always crying poverty.Standing pat next year (no power, no speed, Batista pitching 8th) is unacceptable.

As much as I trust this team to bounce back, I fear last night’s loss is much bigger than just getting shellacked again by that other NY team.

We needed to show we could take two of three from a hot team like the Yanks. Ugh!

The positive is that we never surrender and keep coming back, the bad news is that we don’t win crucial games like last night’s. At some point this team needs to combine a little nastiness and meanness with the healthful “can-do” attitude.

Hoping we go into Wrigley bound and determined.

Pathetic Weekend for terry collins as a manager, but it comes as no surprise to me.. How in the world you leave miguel batista in to pitch to arguably the best hitter (imo) in the game? at least make it a tougher matchup for him by bringing in byrdak Jeez…
This was a tough game for dickey, after facing vanilla offenses for most the season he faced a really good yankee lineup that was amped up to face him, after hearing all weekend about dickey dickey dickey yankee hitters were ready and focus to face him, hence the 5 runs he allowed.
Bullpen, what can i say about this bullpen that hasnt been said before? 17 losses already, the 2nd worst in the majors, the 4th worst bullpen ERA in the majors.. I mean, how PATHETIC is this bullpen eh? and for the most part EVERYONE has been relative healthy, now the injury bug started to hit us, which, who knows, may be a blessing in disguised because the guys they may bring up can be better (certainly not worst) than the group of crap sandy alderson brought in this past offseason… I mean, Combined alone those 3 “he had a good day bullpen guys” have combined to lose 11 games and blown 6 more (mets have lost 3 of those) so far in the season.. It’s amazing how BAD this bullpen overall has been, i mean, there’s not one guy i can say i trust… Certainly not FFF or Rauch or Ramirez…

I couldn’t agree more– I like terry Collins but he BLEW 2 games this weekend, he over uses his bench and puts trust in guys like Acosta and Batista..Batista is horrible , he should be in games we’re losing or when desperately need an arm, not as our 8th inning guy, im mean holy sht, shame on Collins, how could you not use Bydrk there.. Im pssed but cause iseriously like Collins alot as a person, the team responds to him I think he’s good for them overall but some of his moves have been really questionable, real disappointing ..

All of that left handed Yankee power and Tim Byrdak doesn’t pitch in the 8th inning? You bring out Batista again for the 8th… with Cano, Texaira, Swisher and Ibanez coming up? Disgraceful. Glad to have Tejada’s bat back in lineup.

RA was due for a bad game, too bad it was against Yanks but at least we chased CC.

We get a lot of 2 out RBI but we must have close to the worst avg w/RISP cause we had lots of runners and only 5 runs tonight.

How many games are the resilient Mets going to come back in only to have BP give it back?
Eventually this will catch up with team cause with bad RISP numbers the two out RBI will diminish unless the power bats pick it up cause right now we are a station to station hitting team and you are not going to score many runs that way.

3 SS really? Don’t we maybe need another reliable BP arm or another power RH bat in lineup?

We sure don’t have any up and coming RH bats in AAA so we have to rely on aging players like Rottino who are good for a game or two but with Bay’s return to lineup plus his return to hitting in doubt this lineup is exposed. I hope this time TC makes Bay go down for at bats in minors as he did with Tejada/Cedeno who came back with some extended at bats not cold like Bay did.

To many nice guys on Mets.Swisher should have been drilled after his no class act in the bronx.Nothing happened.Dickey knocks that piece of crap A-Roid down and tells him he is sorry.I thought Collins was a tough guy.I don’t see it in his players very often.Alderson has built a team of big slow guys with very little power.Gonna take more than bringing in walls to help this crew.Hate the Yankees, but they make Citifield look small.Not an easy thing to do.
