1 – to take a first pitch that 60% of the time is a strike on average and never below 58% of the time! Even if you know it is a pitch to hit!
2 – To wait instead of LOOK FOR
3 – To let a strike go by if it isn’t your pitch!
4 – base their promotions on OBP instead of BA
5 – Forget to teach them the most important part of plate discipline which is what to do with two strikes on you!
This notion that you can work a pitcher is dead wrong…The Pitcher works you the only way to make a pitcher do something you want is to beat him when he does what he wanted and it didn’t work!

You want to get YOUR PITCH you have to be able to hit HIS pitch.
You want to increase your walks you have to do it by hitting those strikes so the pitcher doesn’t want to throw you one anymore!
And if you want the guy to be a better hitter teach him HOW to hit any strike not how to walk when his favorite pitch isn’t thrown!

I have not seen these kids play so I won’t even try to comment on them until I see what they do…

But there is NO DOUBT that this draft was not as good when compared to last year in anyone’s mind!

Last year the Nimmo pick practically started a Hail Sandy party…

NOPE but that says more about how overhyped the Nimmo pick was compared to this year’s lot!

I say let them play and let thier performance determine thier Hype, Not who picked them and how much name recognition your thought they had on draft day!

I don’t see Mets calling up Wheeler to bigs this year cause with Young up here, Hefner available and possible call up of Harvey/Familia, I say let Wheeler pitch the rest of year in AAA refining his off speed stuff and control unless there is disastrous injuries on staff but AAA should be as far as he goes this year.

With RA, No Han, Gee, Young and Niese pitching well where would you put Wheeler?
Start him over Harvey of Familia?
Whom of these 5, other than Young maybe do you sit?
