His only loss was that rainy day in Atlanta
He left tied in one that the Pen later lost (Acosta) -BP
He left one behind that we tied up and eventually won. +BP

So they have been better after Dickey than others.

I understand that the game has changed and the number of 20-game winners each season is like half of what it used to be in the 60′s and 70′s, but it still defies logic that it has eluded us for this long. One thing Dickey will need if he is to accomplish this now-rare Mets feat, is two things to happen:

1. Terry Collins must no be too quick with the hook especially if Dickey is pitching well.

2. If Dickey is pulled while being the winning pitcher of record, the bullpen cant blow the save and from what I’ve seen of our bullpen this season, this could be the one thing that keps Dickey from that magic 20.

Thanks for recounting those other great 20-win seasons for us. We have some good memories there.

Dickey can pull it off. Not just for the Mets, but also because I read his book and I have so much respect for him now that I know what a great person he is. If any one could win 20 games, it’s Dickey. He has so much drive and motivation to succeed at anything he sets his mind on.
