Valdespin Called Up, Cedeno Goes On DL
Jordany Valdespin was called up from Buffalo in what seems to be a precautionary move in regards to exactly the extent that Ronny Cedeno’s injured calf is hurt. During the press conference, Terry Collins said that Cedeno was currently being examined by doctors, and when asked of his opinion of Ronny’s condition said “He’s ok – not good. The tests will determine what happens to Cedeno”
If Cedeno is injured, it seems as if Omar Quintinilla would get the lion’s share of the playing time, and calling up Valdespin in addition to the condition of Ruben Tejada’s slowly-improving quad injury says that it may be a longer road back then expected.
This post will be updated with the definitive diagnosis of Ronny Cedeno’s injured calf.
Update:
Ronny Cedeno has been placed on the DL retroactive to May 27th with a lower leg injury.
Valdespin will be taking his spot on the roster, and with Cedeno eligible to come off the DL by June 11th hopefully Ruben Tejada will be in shape to return to the team soon as well.

I’m losing track of the starting 25 at this point…..lol
Driving home tonight a little after 5pm and listening to Francesa interviewing Terry.
He asked him ‘How are you doing this? How is it you’ve got these guys going down with injuries, you call up a minor leaguer and they hit the ground running? What are you telling these guys?’
He was especially impressed with Omar Q. last night. Said he’s essentially the 3rd backup SS behind starter Ruben, he gets called up and he has 3 hits, 2 of them doubles, spraying them all over the field.
Got me thinking…..We have heard from several sources now that the clubhouse atmosphere is so much better this year especially, then it was the past several years. Torres commented on the great clubhouse to TC. Terry told Francesa it’s the one of the best clubhouse, if not The best, he’s ever been around.
So who gets the credit for that? Minor league coaches? Terry? Combo of both?
Terry said they’re told when they come up he expects them to execute, play crisp baseball and this is your chance to prove you belong up here.
