The Most Popular M (mascot) In Sports
Congratulations to Flushing’s own Mr. Met on being named the most popular mascot in sports by Forbes Magazine.
The “veteran, kid-friendly mascot”, they say, “has taken on a greater role during the Mets’ troubled years”. Ain’t that the truth?
Mr. Met beat out the Phillie Phanatic who finished in second place in their rankings.
In other news, Metsblog named the Mets’ letter “M”, the “Best M in Baseball”. Read more here.

On June 1, 2012 Johan Santana officially became my favorite current Met! I'm a Queens native who grew up in the shadows of Big Shea. I was a huge Ron Darling, Dave Magadan and John Olerud fan. Honored to be a part of such a great site for Mets fans. Ya Gotta Believe!

Awesome! LoL
This is a dumb post, who cares?
Ummm leave Mr. Met alone! What kind of a Met fan are ya?
Well if you took the time to read and post, I guess you do.
Who cares??? It’s Mr Met! Congrats Mr Met!!!!!
When Mr. Met was born back in 1963, I don’t know if any other teams had actual live mascots so our guy might be the first.
Many have probably seen the original Mr. Met costume in Citi Field’s Mets Hall of Fame.
Yes, Mr. Met was MLB’s first “live” mascot in 64 though I think.
Hi Jessep,
I know Mr. Met was there at Shea that first season but am not quite sure if he might not have been around when they were in the Polo Grounds. I think the 1963 promo film might have him appearing on field during that first Banner Day. Know he didn’t parade the expensive seats back then as he does now.
But wish he would do some stuff on the top of the dugout or between innings on the field like the Fanatic and others do.

“In ’64, Mr. Met earned rookie-of-the-year honors as Major League Baseball’s first modern live-action mascot.”
San Diego Chicken is still working.
I don’t know how anyone could like the Phillie Phanatic. He is harassing and idiotic. He literally harasses people in the stands. If he did that to me I would get kicked out of the stadium because I wouldn’t put up with that crap. Mr Met is very fan friendly and seems like the prototype for all the mascots seen around sports now.
Mr MET!!! I think MR MET is awesome… I love that commercial where he “designs” the graphic and the guys are “you can’t cut it man!!” Congrats i guess.. We finally finish ahead of the phillies in something!!!!
